No, Virg9nia has a entire list of vanity plates that they won't issue because Virginians think these plates dirty but I was ridin' down thwe road one day behind an older pick-up truch and the plate read "HobbleU"...

In the Kew gardens area of London, the late 70's, I remember seeing a Rolls Royce with an unusual paint job and the number plate PEN15 along with another with WOM13 (the 1 & 3 were closed up to create a letter "B")

A well-known one in our town (Bude) is H18UDE (tweaked to look like HI BUDE). I've also seen a couple in Morrisons car park: SO81 ZZY (tweaked to SO BIZZY) and SEE 21T (tweaked to SEE 2 IT).

PEN15 is/was owned by ex-motorcycle and truck racing champion Steve Parrish. He used to arrive back from races on the night ferry from Zeebrugge to Felixstowe, and change plates in the car park to the UK-legal PEN 15.
