So, my sister is retired and is one of those 'forwarded email' sorts of gals. Jokes, warm and fuzzy photos of kittens, you all know, I'm sure, whereof I speak.

But today she sent an interesting email, asking you to go to google images & type in 'Barak Obama' and look at how many offensive photos/images come up of him.

Then, it asks you to do the same for Hilary Clinton.

Interesting results. Go ahead and give it a try, then come back and share with us what you think.

It helps if you spell the names correctly, guest. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

Thanks for catching my spelling error. I didn't use his first name when I did it, just 'Obama'. I did use Hilary, just to be sure I didn't get a bazillion hits w/the other guy.

So did you try it SRS?

I did one page on each. The ratio of normal shots to parodies for Barack was about 11:1, and the ratio for Hillary was more like 8:4.

Interesting. Gender loses. It's a safer hit for the press, I guess.

I don't know if it's gender or just Hillary. She's been unpopular for a long, long time.

The first twenty were 100% parodies and satires. Hmmmmm. Using "George Bush" it is still 8 to 12 straight shots to satires.

Hillary Clinton has been either #1 or #2 on every neocon media type's most-hated list since 1992. (If she was #2, it was only because Bill was #1.) Obama's only been a nationally known figure for less than four years and he hasn't really done much to piss off Limbaugh and his fellow right wing nutjobs. Yet. But when he does, he's gonna wish he'd been born with better looking ears.

By the way, try the Google image search for Ted Kennedy and see what the percentage of abusive photos is. And he's a white male!

A lot of people, particularly the rightwingers, HATE Hilary. I get emails on a regular basis from people who I view as fairly middle-of-the-road, all containing Hilary jokes. I usually respond with a Bush joke, but, I don't think its the gender thing in particular...it's Hilary.

However, I do think it is very hard for a woman to express herself forcefully, and not be called a bitch. This applies to any woman in a position of power, and is definitely a vestige of the woman's-place-is-in-the-home mindset.

Yes, gender loses according to my hits and that is the point of the email. Completely unscientific, etc--I did mention this was one of those forwarded email thingeys, didn't I?

It is sort of interesting, though.
