The "Si Se Puede Cambiar" video was added to YouTube on February 22, 2008 by United For Obama. Andres Useche composed the words & music for this song and United For Obama produced the video independent of the Barack Obama for President campaign. However, the primary purpose of the Si Se Puede Cambiar song and video is to promote the campaign of Barack Obama for President among Latinos in Texas and elsewhere.

Here's some comments that I would like to make about this song:

"Si, Se Puede Cambiar" is a moderately slow song that has a beautiful, easy to remember tune. In my opinion, "Si Se Puede Cambiar"'s very powerful lyrics are comparable to classic English language protest songs of the 20th century such as "Where Have All The Flowers Gone" and "If I Had A Hammer". Although "Si Se Puede Cambiar" was composed to support the Presidential candidacy of Senator Barack Obama among Latinos, the lyrics of that song do not mention Barack Obama or any other politician candidate by name.

I expect that "Si Se Puede Cambiar" will soon find its rightful place in English and Spanish language folk song books and in singalong circles throughout the world.

Absolutely. I'm so grateful to Azizi for bringing it to our attention. It got ME out of my post-Edwards funk. My girls and I are off to a voter registration meeting for Obama tonight. Maybe John will show up, too.

I got a nice note from Useche when I asked for the lyrics, and I guess he's pretty damn excited : ) I should have invited him to visit the mudcat! Maybe someone else will? I don't want him to think I'm a stalker : )
