The concert is at SINSULL's house on April 12 2008, from 6.00pm for a pot luck supper, with the concert starting at 7.30pm. For further information contact SINSULL or me. For travel directions PM Kendall, who can get you there without a round trip of the Portland area!

Matt Brown is a powerful performer of traditional American music. A barn-burning fiddle tune might be followed by a slow blues sung with the guitar, then an intricate banjo number, before returning to the fiddle for a haunting piece from rural Appalachia.

As always $15 to the performer gets you great music, a hot meal and unlimited beverages. If you need a bed, let me know.

Looks like a winning combination for certain. I'd say Matt Brown is a great choice for this always-lovely house concert series.

Sorry I'm missing the great music and food.
I'm mostly done with my income tax and now just have to copy everything over and write the bigger-than-last-year check. I've also been up to my elbows in dirt, and I have blisters and... The income tax felt bad, the dirt felt great, but the music would have been better. I hope there will be reports. Love to y'all.

Matt was totally awesome and has already been asked to come back next year. Those of you who missed him this time around should make every effort to come next time. And the pot roast with baby red potatoes was divine, so was the chicken alfredo.

It was a wonderful evening.....on a whim, we asked our 22 year old daughter if she would like to join -- in true Maine 'small world ' style one of the other attendees goes to her vet clinic, and indeed, she pet sits for him!!!! So she felt very comfortable and -- SHE LEFT AND CAME BACK.......

If you weren't there you missed a real treat. Matt is a first class entertainer and a great musician. He totally connected with the group and made for a wonderful evening.

Kendall stayed until about 11.45 - something that doesn't often happen and he played along with Matt and a good banjo player called Jim on a few tunes. Matt was kind enough to play Ashokan Farewell at Kendall's behest - one of the highpoints of the evening for me.

Oh My Goodness! This young man made me think of the first time I heard Elizabeth La Prelle, Just obscenely talented.

I enjoyed every minute of his concert - everything from old timey fiddle tunes to the blues. And he enjoyed his audience as much as we did him.

But the real fun started later when he, Jim (another banjo player) and Kendall played together. All three were completely delighted with each other. It was magic.

Matt will definitely be back next year. Now to learn all the verses to Goodnight Irene and Jesse James.

Forgot to mention Bruce and Linn, a couple from Scarborough who saw the poster and came. They plan to introduce us to another concert series held on Fridays in Scrborough. He is from the UK - we're being invaded.
I hope Jim returns. Even without the banjo he is a nice addition.
I kept wishing Jeri was with us. One more fiddle and it would have been oerfect. And Maeve's sweet voice.
Next time. Meant ime it was a brilliant evening even if I do say so myself. Many thanks to Jacqui for doing all the behind the scenes stuff to make it happen. And for the Chicken Alfredo and Key Lime Pie.
Matt would be such a wonderful addition to the Getaway. We have to be sure they know about him.
