Oscar Brown, Jr. has remained one of my top 2 all-time music heros since I first heard him in the early 60's. (the other is Dave Van Ronk.) Donnie L. Betts has produced an award winning documentary on OBJ - Music is My Life, Politics My Mistress. Trailer is HERE

Also, search for Oscar Brown, Jr. on You Tube for other OBJ footage.

Wow! You know what pisses me off. Yesterday I had a couple of hours to kill and went down to the cinema. The car park was empty. Nothing but total crap that no one could possible want to see. 10 screens all showing rubbish. No takers.

Why can't they show quality stuff like this?

A great entertainer and musician. In high school, I used to go to see him frequently - there was even a period when he was doing fantastic bossa nova with a Brazilian guitarist - this was when I first realized that good music, etc. was not found in mass market entertainment, although I was still a big Mitch Miller fan! It would be great if movies like this, and the Gus Cannon documentary, could be purchased on-line, such as thru Amazon.
