Subject: Man U v Chelsea in Moscow From: Rasener Date: 01 May 08 - 03:26 PM Why the hell do they put a final on in Moscow, when the cost for any fans is enormous and places to stay are just not available. Surely when they decide on where a final is going to be, they could ensure that the stucture is set up where flights and hotels at reasonable prices are provided for the supporters of any team lucky to get to the final. Best watch it on Sky and save yourself a fortune and hope that no tickets are sold (that would teach em). What do you Man U and Chelsea fans think? Will you be going and how the hell can you afford it and where will you stay? |
Subject: RE: Man U v Chelsea in Moscow From: Rasener Date: 01 May 08 - 03:27 PM ooops sorry that was meant to be BS |
Subject: RE: Man U v Chelsea in Moscow From: GUEST,The Mole Catcher's unplugged Apprentice Date: 01 May 08 - 03:32 PM and has there been a song written about this state of affairs already? *LOL* Charlotte R |
Subject: RE: Man U v Chelsea in Moscow From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 01 May 08 - 03:39 PM I would think this is likely to be a final without any significant crowd misbehaviour... |
Subject: RE: Man U v Chelsea in Moscow From: Dave the Gnome Date: 01 May 08 - 05:40 PM Surely the Reds will get better support in Moscow? :D |
Subject: RE: Man U v Chelsea in Moscow From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 01 May 08 - 07:49 PM So Manchester will be playing in one final Moscow, and the week before St Petersburg will be playing in another final in Manchester... |
Subject: RE: Man U v Chelsea in Moscow From: Backwoodsman Date: 02 May 08 - 09:07 AM Switch 'em - you know it makes sense! |
Subject: RE: Man U v Chelsea in Moscow From: Brakn Date: 02 May 08 - 12:19 PM According to the Mayor of Moscow, fans are going to be flown in and then coached straight to the stadium. After the game they will be coached straight back to the airport. No much point in having it there then. |
Subject: RE: Man U v Chelsea in Moscow From: Larkin Date: 02 May 08 - 12:26 PM As a United fan I'm delighted that they're in the final but horrified at the cost both financially and planetary of thousands flying to Moscow. it should be moved to Wembley but TV rights and all the rest will prohibit that - the russians will want their dosh. As to the Reds getting more support , I think Chelsea have got huge russian support through Abramovich and his cronies - probably already bought the ref . |
Subject: RE: Man U v Chelsea in Moscow From: Rasener Date: 02 May 08 - 12:50 PM Maybe we could switch Chelsea V Man U to Wembley and play the Champioship Play Offs in Moscow BWM :-) |
Subject: RE: Man U v Chelsea in Moscow From: mouldy Date: 02 May 08 - 02:50 PM Wouldn't have anything to do with a certain rich Russian's ownership of Chelsea, would it? Andrea (He also had quite a financial interest in the mine that killed my husband. We don't like Chelsea! Daughter and son in law are ardent Villa supporters) |
Subject: RE: Man U v Chelsea in Moscow From: Victor in Mapperton Date: 02 May 08 - 02:58 PM Sadly many young men and women will be stretching for their credit cards to cover the cost of their trip and they will be paying it off a long time. There is no such thing as "I can't afford it" anymore. Once there was Pawn shops, these closed down with the introduction of the credit card. |
Subject: RE: Man U v Chelsea in Moscow From: Rasener Date: 02 May 08 - 03:04 PM >>Daughter and son in law are ardent Villa supporters<< Well they sound very sensible. |
Subject: RE: Man U v Chelsea in Moscow From: Gurney Date: 02 May 08 - 06:18 PM I worked with a bloke who supported Villa, long ago. He even had his car painted blue and claret. Villa's colours are claret and blue. Guess how he found his car after a match! |
Subject: RE: Man U v Chelsea in Moscow From: Rasener Date: 02 May 08 - 06:27 PM LOL |
Subject: RE: Man U v Chelsea in Moscow From: mouldy Date: 03 May 08 - 02:37 AM When my older daughter and her other half got their first house, it backed onto a development called Villa Fields (total coincidence) . She then got 2 cats. They are Aston and Jasper. She said there was no way she was going to stand at the door shouting, "Aston... Villa!" It's our Ruth who is the Villa supporter - she got into football via her brother in law, and it was a natural progression. Uncannily, she has started her new degree course at Wolverhampton Uni, which is suspiciously close to Villa Park... and yes, she does sometimes go to matches! Andrea |
Subject: RE: Man U v Chelsea in Moscow From: Backwoodsman Date: 03 May 08 - 02:44 AM Yep, that's what I had in mind Villan. |
Subject: RE: Man U v Chelsea in Moscow From: Rasener Date: 03 May 08 - 02:52 AM Well Leeds deserve to win the final playoff of league one. Afer all the termoil they have had. |
Subject: RE: Man U v Chelsea in Moscow From: Backwoodsman Date: 03 May 08 - 05:53 AM I can't believe Ridsdale's still allowed to be involved in football. I wouldn't even let him be the guy who picks up the dog shit off our local park pitches. |

Subject: RE: Man U v Chelsea in Moscow From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 04 May 08 - 11:31 AM I would think there'd be a good few Russians who hate Abramovitch who'll be there to cheer on MU. He did steal his vast fortune from ordinary Russians after all. |

Subject: RE: Man U v Chelsea in Moscow From: HuwG Date: 04 May 08 - 06:55 PM As was observed on the "News Quiz" on Friday ... one foreign-owned British team full of overseas players is to play against another foreign-owned team full of overseas players, in an overseas venue which will require some 300 CO2-farting jet aircraft to carry the fans there. This is a good reflection on the state of British football. |
Subject: RE: Man U v Chelsea in Moscow From: Backwoodsman Date: 05 May 08 - 01:05 AM HuG, you forgot to mention that the location of the overseas venue was decided upon by foreigners! |
Subject: RE: Man U v Chelsea in Moscow From: Flash Company Date: 05 May 08 - 11:26 AM Saw it described the other day as 'The Cold War Final', Glazer's dollars versus Abromovich's roubles! I saw United win the European Cup in 1968 before it became a milch cow for Rupert Murdoch and his like. I haven't been to a match since about 1977, i can't do with all these fancy kick -off times! Subject: RE: Man U v Chelsea in Moscow From: Rasener Date: 05 May 08 - 12:07 PM Russia will waive visa requirements for English football fans travelling to Moscow for the Champions League final - if they are visiting just for the day. Up to 50,000 Chelsea and Manchester United fans may travel for the match at the the Luzhniki Stadium on 21 May. Russian foreign ministry spokesman Andrei Krivtsov told the BBC on Monday that fans staying only for a day, with a valid match ticket, will be excused. Further details are set to be released by the Russian Embassy in London. God what a lot of money for one match and one day if you lose |
Subject: RE: Man U v Chelsea in Moscow From: Backwoodsman Date: 05 May 08 - 12:25 PM Why bother, it'll be on TV, I can watch in comfort, eat and drink decent stuff while I'm watching, not hear the foul-mouthed oaves singing their wretched 'songs' (well only slightly), and not have to tolerate the hooligan behaviour that's almost certain to take place. Then, as long as Man-U beat those Sathern Puftahs, I'll be a happy man. :-) |
Subject: RE: Man U v Chelsea in Moscow From: Rasener Date: 05 May 08 - 02:07 PM Well with a bit of luck, all the supporters will be held over there and used for cheap labout :-) Come on Chelsea, you are the only ones that can beat Man U. You could in actual fact do the double. |
Subject: RE: Man U v Chelsea in Moscow From: Backwoodsman Date: 05 May 08 - 03:02 PM Southern Puftah! :-) :-) |

Subject: RE: Man U v Chelsea in Moscow From: Backwoodsman Date: 06 May 08 - 04:41 AM You should try being a Leeds fan, Les. Everybody hates us! :-) |
Subject: RE: Man U v Chelsea in Moscow From: Stu Date: 06 May 08 - 04:43 AM "Unfortunately being a Villa supporter,we hate Man U and will always support the other team LOL" I'm a Villa supporter living just south of Manchester, and I'll be supporting Chelsea to be sure. However, when I last went to see Chelsea play (I was with the away supporters in an FA cup tie - not the Villa), I noticed they played ELO's Mr Blue Sky - ironic considering Lord His Holiness Jeff Lynne of Shard End is a blues supporter (and probably feeling a bit sick right now . . .). Bostin! |
Subject: RE: Man U v Chelsea in Moscow From: Rasener Date: 06 May 08 - 05:04 AM LOL Yes there is one team that Villa hate more than Man U and thats the real Blues (Birmingham City) - keep roight on to the end of the road - theym surely edding that rode loik - Luvvly jubbly. So Leeds must be third in line :-) |

Subject: RE: Man U v Chelsea in Moscow From: Rasener Date: 06 May 08 - 06:53 AM Well Sky seem to know who they are. They are showing these matches live. May 2008 Mon 12 Leeds v Carlisle 7.30pm League One Play-Offs Thu 15 Carlisle v Leeds 7.30pm League One Play-Offs Glad I am out :-) :-) |

Subject: RE: Man U v Chelsea in Moscow From: Rasener Date: 06 May 08 - 07:29 AM Maybe Sky don't like the Villa, as they are showing Man U, Birmingham City and Leeds. Maybe MON isn't as popular as one would be led to believe |
Subject: RE: Man U v Chelsea in Moscow From: Stu Date: 06 May 08 - 11:46 AM Sky, Mark Lawrenson etc etc I don't know what's going to happen with Gareth Barry, but whether he stays or goes O'Neill (praise be his name) has some work to do over the summer - although I am very pleased with the season, and I hope to get to see a match or two from the Trinity Road Stand next year. |
Subject: RE: Man U v Chelsea in Moscow From: Rasener Date: 06 May 08 - 11:54 AM Well I am hoping to pick a nice juicy one in September with my brother in the directors box as guests :-) MON needs to get his finger out now and get his players. I don't think Barry will stay now. |

Subject: RE: Man U v Chelsea in Moscow From: Arnie Date: 06 May 08 - 05:41 PM Well, I reckon Leeds will be in the Championship next year but I wouldn't bet on us making the Premiership without someone investing more money in the club than Ken Bates can manage. It would be amusing to see Ferdinand,Smith, Robinson, Keane, Lennon, Woodie et al making a return to Elland Road - well, maybe not Smith, Newcastle can keep him! |
