While we were performing at South Street Seaport just before Christmas of last year some friends did some video tapping of the concert. A friend is now editing the video. So this is the 1st draft of the 1st clip that we're trying out. I can't see or hear anything cause I can't get my eyes & ears to be in any way critical, they're just to bias for me to be able to make a fair judgment of the clip. So, any comments, I can take the constructive criticism (at least I'd like to think so) in fact I'd hope for that.

The song being sung is Yangste River Shanty, hopefully you'll get that. You'll also note that in the intro I credit Charlie (Noble)Ipcar for creating the tune & his bringing Hamish Maclaren's song to life. Hopefully you'll get that from the video too. If anyone wants the words they're at my web site http://www.finnandhaddie.com/ (scroll to the bottom left side of the home page).

Here's a link to the U-Tube site Finn & Haddie

Thanks to all
Barry

Whoa!!!
The introduction for the song maybe slightly long in the mouth but the singing sure makes up for that. Could use a little more brightness too, otherwise super. I could listen to this a number of times over.

The full-throated singing of Barry Finn and Neil Downey comes through strong and clear.

I've already suggested to Barry that the introduction be severely shortened or entirely deleted.

Hamish Maclaren, if he still walked this earth, would be vastly amused that his creation (1929) was being revived.

Cheerily,
Charley Noble

Looking good! I'd drop the intro - good information, but with YouTube you need to catch people fast! If you can bring the volume up overall, that would be good - I had every setting I have at max, and still could barely hear you. (Note to self - I think this is the only time in the years that I've known him that it's ever occurred to me to ask Barry to be louder....) :) I like the closeup view from the middle of the song better than the wider shot at the beginning - if there is closeup video for the first verse, you might consider using that - again to catch the audience. It's hard to relate to you folks when you're "way back there" and easier when we can see you sweat! :)

We both know that yours will always be my second favorite version of that song (Hi Charley!) - and I think the video has great potential - and can show how engaging you folks can be (which is why closer is better!).

Looking forward to seeing what else was on the tape!

All the best,
JudyB

Thanks guys,
Judy I think you make a good point about catching folks fast on U-Tube, I'll probably drop most of the into's on this & the upcoming ones. I don't have a problem with the volume though, could that be a problem on your end? It's comes in loud & clear here.
Thanks for the comments, any more?
Barry

OK - I found one more really strange screen in my advanced speaker settings, and now I can actually hear you at full volume. Who knows when or why I'd turned it down. And I'd still recommend dropping the intros. ;)

Well, I've liked that song since I received the CD and it seems better live.

Youse & Charlie did a good service providing it. Best upgrade of a show tune since Yo-Ho-Ho (The Dead Man's Chest).

Not that it really matters but did you have any particular type of chanty in mind?

JudyB- interesting when we find a problem is just the electronic setting, not reality. I wonder if I can apply that to my income tax.

I like intros. Yes, very short ones at YouTube (and none on records) but for a performance I much benefit from learning the setting of a song before hearing it.

Another thing I gotta wonder about. YouTube always gives 'Related Videos' and this one offered "Pretty Red Coed Pedicure Toes" (4 minutes of someone's toes) and "Sony HDR CX7 low quality test." Is that criticism?
