Hey folks,

--                  Im from a casting agency called casting collective and were based in london, were having an open casting this saturday 12th for extra's for the new Ridley Scott film Nottingham, we need some merry men types with beards, long hair and not too large, i've attached the poster we are using, not sure if you can put this up on your forum or if you have any advice on other folk sites etc where I can try and find some long haired bearded men!!,

Open Casting for extras on Ridley Scott film
"Nottingham"

Sat 12th July
Who we are looking for:
White men aged 20 – 55 with longer hair and beards.
The Ideal look for this film is white men with longer hair. Doesn't have to be really long but at least over the collar. (minimum 3 inches) Beards and facial hair are also preferable as the film is set in medieval times. If you don't have longer hair or a beard we may still want to use you if you are very good at any of the following skills:
Archery experience
Sword fighting or fencing experience
Horse riding skills
Stage combat or Stunts
Any Military experience
You have to be proficient and confident.
Important: If you do not have longer hair or a beard or are very good at the above skills then please do not come to the casting as you will not be used and will be wasting your time.

Your National Insurance number
Your bank details (so we can pay you. Pay is under the background FAA rates, approx £80 to £130 per day. See our website for more details)
A copy of your Passport or Driving Licence, you can bring the original if you want and we will photocopy it. If you don't have either, then bring a photocopy of your birth certificate.
Details of your skills.
How to dress:
You can be casually dressed but please avoid bright colours or large logos or wearing all white. You will be photographed against a white background.

This mediaeval peasant hasn't got a beard. Nor has this one. Some of these are on the hairy side, but by no means all. Maybe the music involved in this picture of beardless mediaeval peasants will be enough to keep this above the line, though the listener's reaction seems to suggest it's Not Really Folk.

In any case, why ask here for bearded blokes?

Watch out for the transport situation. A lot of the Tube system is under repair this weekend.

This looked like the perfect job for a ne'er-do-well, average folkie such as myself - but then I see that they want people under 55, and with hair on top of their heads. I have enough hair in my ears and nostrils to compensate - will that work?

Guess I won't have to worry about being ogled by Liz any more.

Too bad I'm over the age limit. I meet the qual in all other respects and really get a kick at showing up the SCA types on swordsmanship. I've also taught archery.

Surely they should just write the actors checks, which the actors then take to the bank.

This is a good idea. If we can get all the bearded men gathered in one place together they will be much easier to keep an eye on while we prepare to put into effect "The Final Option"...   ;-D
