Not a big deal- there's only one Ulster Unionist MP. The other 9 are the foaming nutcases of Ian Paisley's Democratic Unionist Party.

It's not called The Conservative and Unionist Party for nothing.

Thunder against them.

Come to Scotland Stig.

With a bit of luck we may be about to see a small measure of Socialism.

Alex Salmond is no John McLean, but the SNP are a bloody sight more left wing than Macavity's Labour!

We lost Mr.Enoch Powell from our constituency some years back to the Ulster Unionists. He did quite well over there.

The Ulster Unionist Party enjoyed good years with the Conservatives when both had a sizeable majority. John Major gave them reassurance after reassurance that the union was safe under him. It transpired that John Major was holding secret talks with the IRA for over a year,at first he denied it,then he admitted it. These talks lead onto Irish republicans taking positions in the very government building the Ulster Unionist Party were evicted from in 1972!

David Trimble of the Ulster Unionist Party wasn't hard line enough for the staunch Ulster Scots, hence he was brushed aside by the electorate for the firebrand Ian Paisley.

An alliance now between the Conservatives and the Ulster Unionist Party is similar to two middle aged people joining a dating agency seeking companionship.

I'd think on the whole this is a vote loser for the Tories.

Though of course the Labour Party is solidly Unionist as well. At the top anyway.

Hang on, is this the same David Cameron that accused the Unionists of making under-the-counter deals with Labour a few weeks ago and suggested that they were without principle or honour? It just goes to show he (Cameron) will say and do anything, sacrfice all principle, to get elected like most politicians.
