I'll be there, as usual, squeezing all the right notes, but probably in the wrong order! Must remember to take Mudcat shirt this year.

Jane - care to elaborate? Or is it a secret to be whispered later?

This may be a silly and probably much repeated question, "How do I get a Mudcat shirt?" and do who ever supplies them deliver to Beruit where I am working at the moment? Only joking, I am actually back in Yorkshire in two weeks time.

Bill Sables handles mudcat teeshirts in the UK and Dick and I handle them in the US. See the Mudcat site map for tee shirt info and picture from the dropdown at the top of the main forum page. The picture is Max wearing one of the original teeshirts - we changed the color to navy since the one you see in the picture does not have enough contrast to be seen outside. There are also some red teeshirts.

If Bill is running his usual music stall at the craft fair he may well have some tee shirts with him.

Thanks everyone for the information regarding the T shirt, I am sure I will be able to get one. Just had a wonderful meal on the sea front in Beirut at the Hotel Riviera, only around 25 degrees C at 11.00pm. Many of your compatriots here Susan, many working for UN or similar organisations.
Beirut is a place not to miss.
Thanks Mrs Duck If I do not manage to get one Mudcat site I will see Bill at the craft fair
Thanks again

A badge would be nice...

Not sure how many Mudcat things I'll get to this year as I will be performing in the main festival, as a storyteller. When I'm not performing I'll probably be back in the my guest house resting. I really have valued the support that other Mudcat members have given me - I particularly enjoyed the trips to Glaisdale.

I'll be performing at the Half Day at the Bay on the Monday afternoon if any Mudcat members fancy a trip out of Whitby. Robin Hoods Bay is very pretty.

The Glaisdale train will be running again on Sunday 17th, assemble at the station at 12.35ish. Arrive Glaisdale just after 1pm, normal format as always and the now traditional raffle and whip round for the Runswick Bay Rescue Boat. If anyone would like to donate a raffle prize it would be much appreciated. Return train leaves Glaisdale about 4.25 arriving back in Whitby just before 5pm.

NEWS FLASH>>>.......

Tuesday we've organised a trip to Staithes on the Esk Belle, Whitby's biggest and best pleasure boat. We've been offered a concession on the normal fare so if you get a ticket from us you can travel at a reduced rate. It's one hour at sea up to Staithes, one hour ashore and one hour back (All approx). Polish up your nautical (or even naughtycal)songs. This is limited availability due to passenger limits on the Esk Belle.

Ooooh! I'm getting excited! And I'm optimistic too, as my campervan, complete with its heart transplant, managed to get me to Sidmouth FF and back! I'm starting the trip up tomorrow ...
Raggytash: Looking forwaard to the train trip and please put my name down for the boat trip!
Geoff & Jane Duck: Congratulation on 10 years - brill!
Mick McGarry: Forget about the inhospitality of Warwick FF. See you at your session, if not before.
Geoff Duck: Probably see you at the scratch morris.
Jane Duck: Is John Connolly really doing the shanty spot with Jim Maggean? Surely, he's more of a ballad man and what about Greame Knights?

Of course one of the other 'Traditional' fringe events will also be on as usual. I refer to the 'Lunchtime Legends' Wednesday lunchtime rock n roll gig at 'The Elsinore'. Chris Harvey, Alison Younger, Clive Pownceby & Nev Grundy will rock the joint from 12ish for their usual 3 halves. Rumour has it that this years 'celeb' warm up spot might be provided by a certain squeezebox genius?????
Unfortunately I will miss most of it due to dancing commitments.
Cheers
Les

NEWS FLASH !!!!!!!

Cancelled Glaisdale Train

Due to circumstances beyond our control Glaisdale Sunday is CANCELLED. One of the staff without consulting Marie took a booking for a Christening on Sunday. Now much as we enjoy ourselves there is no way I want to spoil such a wonderful day for the child and their family, so let's take the opportunity to wish the infant a long, happy and prosperous life.
Please do NOT turn up at the Arncliffe Arms on Sunday as the Christening party will be in full flow, if you would be kind enough to pass this information on to as many people as you can it would be very much appreciated.
Christine and I are looking at the possibility of doing a similar trip on Monday and will speak to as many people as we can over the weekend.

Let's all wish a happy life to the new baby, we can all gather again next year!

Good news on the travel front for us. Our favoured route from Southport, is A59 to nr Harrogate, Ripon, A19, Guisbouough & over the top to Whitters. But the A59 was to be closed at Blubberhouses, from the 4th for 2 weeks.
This was going to entail a long detour, or brave the Fri afternoon traffic on the M62. But I found out last night Craven Herald that the roadworks instead of taking 2wks, was completed in 6 working days, (unheard of I know). So the A59 is now open.
So a nice relaxing drive now (I hope).
Cheers
Les

Having spent the last 2 days helping to get the campsites ready I can definitely say the ground is WET!!! - not impossible to camp on but very wet.

Please help us keep the sites by following any instructions given by the campsite stewards with regards to camping areas (unless you want the bog on Stakesby), caravans and movement of cars. I know on the Artistes Site it's a case of if it's on it's on for the week/however long you are there - take it off and it stays off!

You know it makes sense and it helps everyone have a great festival.

It's not as bad as when the campsite was at Ruisip and used to flood if there was an exceptionally high tide. Which happened quite regularly over the years.

Selby its not so funny after all!!! four or five years ago my son went to Poacher Scout Camp, an international scout camp in Lincoln. they ended up canoeing all over the campsite, tents and goods had to be taken into a huge barn for hot air drying, and there wasnt a bit of dry ground anywhere. but did anyone go home??? nah, not one!!!
