I echo what everyone has been saying, Ron's show is superb, he is a knowledgeable and informative host, his selection of music is inspired and best of all, I can listen to it on a dial-up connection.

It was good to hear Bruce on the program too, kind of took me back.

Max used to do a Mudcat 'radio' show in the days when he was more involved here. It was a lot of fun. We had a chat room open and talked to each other and Max during the show. It was really something--talking to folks in Oz, the UK, Iceland, Canada, New Zealand and the US, and we were all listening to the same music.

I don't suppose that's something that's easily done, especially not when a show's planned out in advance and the guy doing it only has two hands and one brain. It was fun though.

I must try to remember to listen to you guys on Sundays.

Oh, thank you Sol. Trust me to get the time wrong. Doh!

Hey, we can phone Ron? How cool is that? I think we should all ring him the week after next and say "Hello!" :0)

I used to email Mick and Lester over on Folkwaves (BBC Radio Derbyshire) during their show, and Genevieve Tudor on BBC Sunday Folk, she's lovely, very funny too. We'd have a bit of a giggle..and we had a wonderful thread on the BBC board, where lots of us would meet up and listen live to their shows, that was great fun.

This link to the Philadelphia Folk Festival has some great music on it too. Just heard the Oysterband on the music player they have on that site.

I'm going to send Ron's show to my friends over in New Jersey. That'll give them a nice surprise. And I'll put a link to Ron's page on my myspace page too..All helps to spread the word out.

Thank you again for your message.

Hi Lizzie,
I believe that Ron may have pre-recorded the show for this week.

When he is doing it live he invites listeners to call in while he is spinning the music. The phone number in the studio is 201-692-2012.

By the way, the show is 3 hours long and runs from 3 PM to 6 PM.

Ron does the show every other week and alternates with Bill Hahn (also a Mudcatter) who does the show on the weeks when Ron does not.

SOL

Just heard about this on Ron's show, and he's going to it as well, so he's going to tell us all about it.

The Philadelphia Folk Festival

That Judy Collins track was lovely.

Ron, who was that last track by? Something about him playing a hurdy gurdy, but I didn't quite catch his name, he sounded like a young Harry Chapin.

Having just discovered Ron's brilliant progamme this evening, I thought he and 'it' should have their own thread.

Here's where and how to listen, click the link below, then click the 'WFDU Streaming On The Web' link and that takes you to the Warpradio picture, which is the link to the show...

Ron's 'Traditions' Programme

(with thanks to Jeri, for the original link in Bruce's 'Matters of the Heart' thread)

Today, Ron played, amongst others, some beautiful tracks from the new CDs of Joan Baez - 'Day After Tomorrow'...and Bruce Murdoch - 'Matters of the Heart'

And of course, there's a link between these two artists, with Joan's sister, Mimi, being married to Richard Farina, who (with a very young Bruce) was on the Singer Songwriter Project, along with David Cohen (now David Blue) and Patrick Sky.

Great to hear their new CDs being aired on Ron's show.

Joan Baez

Bruce Murdoch

You can listen 'live' to Ron's show every Sunday, from 3-5pm (New Jersey time) and you'll hear a rich variety of brilliant music! I'm listening to it right now, as I write this. I'm hooked! :0)

And as Ron and Bruce, are both Mudcatters, well, it shows yet again, that this board is something a bit 'special'.

Oh, and to bring a smile, Ron has just finished playing a great track, The Mermaid Song by Great Big Sea, which you can listen to here:

The Mermaid, on Youtube
