Subject: Matt Watroba moving to Folk Alley From: Cool Beans Date: 27 Jan 11 - 05:10 PM This jut in from Matt Watrobe; As of Thursday, January 20, I am a full-time employee of Kent State University in Kent, Oh. I will be doing full-time folk music radio. That's right. Full-time folk music radio. WKSU is the local public radio station with a big commitment to folk music on the weekends (Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights). These shows are hosted by the veteran folk host, Jim Blum. In addition, WKSU runs an amazing 24 hour folk stream at www.folkalley.com. This is an everything –folk- music site including the stream, links, reviews, exclusive video, interviews etc… It will take a few weeks, but you will hear me in that stream before you know it. Here is the official word from the Folk Alley e-newsletter: This week, veteran DJ Matt Watroba joins Folk Alley as a full-time staff member. A radio veteran who is recognized nationally for his work in the folk music genre, Matt hosted the popular Folks Like Us program on WDET-FM in Detroit for more than 22 years. In 2007, he partnered with Sing Out! magazine to create The Sing Out! Magazine Radio Show, an hour-long syndicated radio show heard across the country and on XM Satellite Radio. Along with his experience hosting and producing folk music shows for radio, Matt is an accomplished singer-songwriter and music educator who was named "Best Overall Folk Performer" by the Detroit Music Awards. His duties for Folk Alley include producing, hosting, posting, interviewing and anything else we can think for him to do! We're giving Matt some time to become acclimated to the warmer climate (Michigan, brrrr), so he won't be heard in the stream right away. We're so happy he's on board! Welcome to Folk Alley, Matt! |
