From: Rick Fielding Date: 07 Jun 99 - 12:03 PM Well, "Duckboots" aka Heather, will be at a meeting of the "Adoption Council of Canada", for most of the evening, so I'll be on my own. Actually since finding her birth mother (and a bunch of new relations) she's become aware of a lot of the problems and stigma(s) that adopted kids deal with on a life-long basis. I've suggested that we do a radio show on the subject, with appropriate songs and a couple of interviews, and have left the planning up to her. My simple-minded philosophy on ALL situations of exclusion, is that when one person gets up the nerve to tell their story publicly, others in the same boat feel less alone. And that has to be good. Since I don't have a guest tonight, I'll play some CDs, vinyl, and maybe bring in a banjo or guitar (no tipples) and sing a few songs. rick |

Bill Sables is visiting from England & we were trying to listen. Usually the show is on in the middle of the night for him. We did call Rick & chat for the minute, though; that was fun. And I tried the Mudcat chatroom for the 1st time, w/ Bill's encouragement. Bill may visit the show next week. Sure sounds like fun! bbc

Rick had me get down on one knee, tapped me on the shoulder with a fiddle bow and dubbed me 'producer' two minutes before the show. I must have messed up, although I swear I touched nothing but the phone. It's too bad there was so much static, I know that Susan, My Girl Marilyn and I really enjoyed the experience. Now I think it's generally accepted on Mudcat that Heather is a fine woman and meeting her after the show over a pint certainly bore that out, but what might come as a surprise to many is that Rick is a really nice guy *grin* and he sure is a fine player. Nice little session after the show. Rick played Woody on "Woody", did a few more tunes on Michael's new 12 string Laskin and his Breedlove, both are beautiful instruments. Rick knew how to get the best out of them. Swapped a few stories. Perhaps Rick should ask Rick to tell you about St. Vladimir. All in all, it was a very pleasant night. I look forward to seeing the Fieldings again, even though it appears that Heather had enough of my Producing and vows that she will be back next week.

They were playing old jazz. It was wonderful. Somehow, when I downloaded it, it didn't get an extention. So, hoping, I renamed it to *.exe. That worked.
