Subject: BS: unsung Zen masters of the world From: Little Hawk Date: 11 Sep 08 - 11:14 PM My first nomination: "Ricky" from Trailer Park Boys. One "awesome dude", lemme tell ya. He is the man who came up with the expression "supply and command", for instance. My second nomination: "Julian" from the same show. The man NEVER spills his mixed drink (rum & coke), not even when he rolls the car. Who would you nominate? |

Subject: RE: BS: unsung Zen masters of the world From: freda underhill Date: 12 Sep 08 - 09:31 AM An unsung Aussie Zen master is Robert Treborlang, who wrote "Australian Zen". Here are a couple of exerpts, showing that the Noble Eightfold Path and the Ten Precepts are to be found in everyday Australian life. The Noble Eightfold Righteous Path Right of way; right as rain; too right; dead right; about right; sitting right; bang to rights; and she'll be right. The Ten Noble Precepts Not to cadge; not to dob; not to big note yourself; not to bung it on; not to put the bite on; not to cause problems; not to whinge; not to crawl; not to have tickets on yourself; and not to buzz around like a blue-arsed fly. freda |

Subject: RE: BS: unsung Zen masters of the world From: Liz the Squeak Date: 14 Sep 08 - 05:02 AM What is it with MacKenzie's and Zen.... there's two of them here now! I rather like his book on the art of motorcycle maintenance but since I got rid of my motorcycle, I've not had cause to read it. Perhaps if I'd read it before, I wouldn't have had to get rid of my motorcycle. LTS |
