Hello all,

I've been having the same dream for 3 days and I did a search on google on the 14th of october - the date which was in my dream and it really gave me a fright. In my dream I see a huge starship just sitting above the earth, doing nothing just being there as if to say ETS are real.

In my google search some channeler has predicted that ETS will allow themselves to be seen on that date http://www.blossomgoodchild.com/

In my dream goverments do bad stuff like firing at the ship and religous sects go mad and lots of people loose the plot. I'm not usually a person who has this sort of thing happen to them. Am I going mad?

I have spoken about this to some friends and they assure me that I am rational.


Why have I posted this ? Well if it happens to be true I just wanted to let you know that I feel that this is a good thing.

I'm ready to take any negative feedback.............

My opinion, Pat, is that dreams, when relevant at all, are about ourselves and come from our ourselves, so not likely to work well at predicting the behaviour of extraterrestrials, while likely being much better at predicting the behaviour of people we know.

'Channellers' annoy me. I've known a few people who fancied themselves that way, and they were just airyfairy drama queens whose stories had no internal consistency, let alone relationship to external modern or historic reality. But I'm very picky that way, some think too much so.

Kinda neat sci-fi adventure dream, though. I always enjoy having that kind.

I'd love to think that its a kind of home grown dream. But I have never had such a REAL dream before. It might
be born out of star trek or similar stuff although I dont really watch that on TV. In my mind I think this could be real, What would be the effects of a real ET on the world?

Partridge,
Go back over the last week or so and try to see where some of the pieces come from. Usually, this helps me figure out what has spawned elements of a dream. Dream stories seem to weave themselves around everyday events ( an overheard odd comment, a TV program, a random person on the street)in odd ways.
Dreaming the same dream over and over is odd. Either your mind is trying to wrap itself around something going on in your life or...guess we'll see on October 14th.

Well for the last three nights I have had this dream of ETS, Its The weekend and I hope to have a dreamless sleep.

Interesting. Wish it were true! I've googled the date and there re many links on the subject.

As we know, there have been many prophecies and forecasts of this sort over the centuries. Many have given dates. ALL have proven untrue.

Here is one link with a twist:

Why It Won't Happen

I think the odds are good that there are, have been or will be planets in our enormous universe upon which intelligent life and alien civilizations exist.

Odds on communicating or visiting are a lot worse. Time is an almost insurmountable factor. You have to imagine an alien civilization technologically advanced enough to notice our existence. They will be fantastic numbers of lightyears away, and what they notice will be long over with before they can notice. Consider that when astronomers observe a supernova 'happening', the explosion has actually happened hundreds or thousands of years ago.

Physics is fantastic enough that I won't discount the wild possibility that FTL travel or teleportation a la Star Trek can be acheived. So given an alien civilization noticed earth, they'd have to have a really good reason for coming. We could imagine they are so advanced that such travel is cheap enough that they could visit just for the sake of curiousity. Certainly it's most unlikely they would make the trip for reasons of exploitation or war, because if they are that advanced, there is nothing to exploit that they couldn't find or make for themselves. There's always religion, of course - our own planet has taught us that missionaries, regardless of the state of enlightenment of their own civilization, will go out of their way to proselytize to the heathen. In fact, I'd bet on religion being the reason for any ET visit to humanity. Intergalactic Mormons!

As for reactions, I always think people are overly concerned about humans likely response to ETs hovering over London or Washington or wherever. If some idiot government did shoot at them, it isn't like our imaginary ETs with their interstellar tech wouldn't expect or be able to deal with that, or not know how nuts humans can be. And I think we sell ourselves short in thinking we would be crazed with fear or otherwise driven mad by having to acknowledge ETs existed.

(Note: I'm fighting a nasty jaw infection and taking massive antibiotic treatment along with codeine/ASA painkillers, and have noticed a slight 'otherworldliness' in my communicatin' functions today.)

I'm glad it'll happen with a little time to spare before the US election. ;^)

I am generally skeptical about anything as unlikely as this, but I'm always at least a little bit open to the possibility of almost anything.

I've been somewhat bemused to encounter more "ET" talk than usual in recent weeks and months, and have concluded that the extremely unlikely emergence of Barack Obama as a Presidential condidiate might be best explained by his being "planted" here in the most powerful nation on earth by benevolent aliens. (I mean, how much do we know ~ any of us, including Obama himself ~ about that mysterious disappearing sperm-donor father?)

Now, I don't really believe this, but I think it makes for very interesting "food for thought." And, who knows, maybe we ARE living in a science-fictional universe. Things are already pretty goddamn weird, and truth is, after all, very often stranger than fiction.

HeyaPat...good to *see* you around here, again. I expect you've been busy!

I had a very REAL dream a couple of weeks ago. In it a friend came to me, after being away for many months, and told me she had passed on. I was really sad until she assured me that she was happy and doing really well. I really cannot describe just how real it felt. I cannot even say for sure that is was *just* a dream. I woke up very concerned and wondering what I might find out. As it was, I heard from a mutual friend who'd just had a telephone call from her, also after many months, and she was okay, much to my relief. So, was I visited, was it my worry about her coming to the surface? I don't know. I wrote a poem about it which is in the Mudcat poetry thread. If it turns out that it was precognition, I'll let you know. I hope not, though.

As to your ETs etc. it seems unbelievable that such a thing would finally happen after all of the years of speculation, sci-fi clicks and all, but who knows? We'll just have to see. I usually look at dreams as metaphors for something in my life. Perhaps something stupendously colossal, of the positive sort, is in store for you!
