THis is time when the last accusations are made so that most people will hear some version of the "revelation" before voting.

ACORN has no there there except that it is becoming an excuse to disqualify valid voters for fear of tampering and create a distraction for real electronic vote changing.

My theory of Palin accusing Michelle Obama of having abortions has not occured.

What has emerged is the claim that Radical Islamic terrorists have funded the Obama campaign. The attempt to prove this is as crude as a mailing a XXX dvd to your pastor and accusing him of perversion, or posting a harsh comment on mudcat under an assumed GUEST name.

The one surprise I hope Obama makes is to disprove McCain's maverick claims by exposing the fact that John's attempt to expose the new US torture policy, something John knows about first hand, was silenced when the Bush administration successfully got John to shut up and go ahead and vote FOR the new definitions of torture.
John didn't put troops or country first bu voting for the Bush torture program. John did the expediate thing for his own career.

For John getting trashed by your fellow Republicans was more of a clear and present danger than standing up against torture.

For me, that is when John became completly dishonorable. Know he is dishonored by covertly supporting the violent murder of Barack Obama.

If you see any new emerging October surprises getting wheeled out to the runway, let me know.

" Know he is dishonored by covertly supporting the violent murder of Barack Obama."

That is a despicable claim, Donuel. I insist you withdraw it or prove it immediately.

I think what Donuel is referring to is McCain's failure to say anything when people starting yelling murderous threats about Obama in McCain rallies.

McCain has later come forth with calming words assuring his 'bots that Obama is a decent human being, but at the crux of the moment, he said nothing.

Still a despicable claim and perversion of the truth designed to stir up the emotions of those who believe everything they read.

I will support the ugly truth of the incitment to violence with the words of Keith Oberman and John McCain last night.

McCain's incitement of hate campaign

McCain is tacitly inciting lunatics to viloence. He has become a clear a present danger to the peace of this nation.

I see it in my neighbor who now speaks of the impending assasination with a sardonic grin on his face. Only when I reminded him that he was grinning when he said that, and only then did he see the hate he is being taught leak out of his actions and words.

Sinsull I too have called for sardonic violence when I suggested that public guilloting of corrpt CEOs who are most enriched and respondsible for the global economic meltdown. My saying that is much diferent from public rallies on national TV.
McCain is holding firm to letting his voulenteers shout fire in a crowed theater,

McCain will not apologize or defuse the hate. Instead he wants Obama to apologize for another Senator who comapared the incitement to violence at McCain rallies to be similar to those of George Wallace and other dark pages from American political violence.

However this is off topic from the original search for October surprises, or will the October Surprise be a McCain lunatic acting on the McCain Plain cues to kill Obama?

Sen. McCain, these people are speaking for you! And how dare you try to claim Congressman Lewis was linking you to Gov. George Wallace's segregation? He was linking you, aptly, to Gov. George Wallace's lynch-mob mentality.

"As public figures with the power to influence and persuade," said Congressman Lewis, "Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin are playing with fire, and if they are not careful, that fire will consume us all."

Sen. McCain, your supporters, at your events, are calling Obama a terrorist and traitor and are calling for him to be killed. And yet you keep bringing back these same rabid Right Wing nuts to deliberately stir these crowds into frenzies. And then you take offense when somebody who remembers the violence in our political past, calls you on it. You, sir, are responsible for a phalanx of individuals who are shouting fire in a crowded theater.

There are some things to respect and honor about you, Sen. McCain, but on this you're not only a fraud, Senator, but you are tacitly inciting lunatics to violence. If you want to again grand-stand and suspend your campaign here's your big chance. Suspend your campaign now, until you, or somebody else, gets some control over it and it ceases to be a clear and present danger to the peace of this nation.

Actually, I am a ma'am. And Keith O's take on the situation is not proof of McCain's "covertly supporting the violent murder of Barack Obama".

In the immortal words of the Captain Kendall Morse "No amount of belief can create a fact"

Unfortunately, the repetition of a lie often results in it being perceived as the truth. You are entitled to your opinion, Donuel. I too have seen these public events and opine that McCain has in no way encouraged the assassination of Obama. To my knowledge, neither the Secret Service, FBI nor Obama himself have interpreted McCain's behavior as a call to violence.

For the record I am not a McCain supporter and am disappointed in the slanders he and his playmate have chosen to spread. Just as McCain is not inciting assassinations, Obama is not "palling around with terrorists." Both lies are equally misleading and despicable.

Well, if a $700B bailout of Wall Street doesn't count as an "October Surprise" then I don't know what the qualifications are??? Just that this went against McCain and short of Obama absolutely blowing ther debate tonight I can't imagine what it would take to make for an October Surprise...

Mary, it's the video.
Every one of those comments like 'that one' are planned. They hit the mark well enough to appeal to those who are racist or just fearful, but subtle enough so any racist connotation can be denied. I don't know if McCain is racist, but to me, it sure looks like he's trying to call out to those who are.

I don't think he's trying to incite anyone to violence. He's only playing on their fear and hatred because that seems to be the presidential thing to do. He just want them to vote for him.

I think he has to turn the tide in the debate tonight, and he's probably going to have to do something pretty big and take a risk to do it. He needs to piss Obama off, and all Obama has to do is to stay grounded. It may be an exciting debate, or I may watch 'House' re-runs.

In the meantime, playing by the rules set by those you disdain means there IS no 'higher ground', and you don't get the respect you otherwise might have.

If you want a YouTube vids to work you have to put in a YouTube link, rather than a link to a site which is showing a YouTube clip ,like Donuel did at 15 Oct 08 - 12:27 PM. Otherwise what shows up is a notice saying "Were sorry, this video is no longer available."
..............................................

As for "that one", Private Eye came up with the suggestion that this was in fact one of those senior moments, when you just can't recall the name of some person you know perfectly well - on the tip of your tongue but you just can't say it.

Private Eye may have been joking, but it actually seesm quite plausible. Like forgetting the next line in a song you've sung for years. Happens to me from time to time, and I'm not 72 yet.

Bobert is right o.

IT makes me wonder that the Bush administration was so deperately hoping to have the crash occur on the 'next watch' that they probably delayed all timely effective remedies until it was virtually too late.

Seems appropriate to mention this here - it's more or less an Aussie version of "Yes Minister" in many ways. It will probably be out on DVD soon.

http://www.abc.net.au/tv/hollowmen/ (needs Flash 9)

The Hollowmen - a 6x30min political comedy/drama series - has today been commissioned by ABC TV.

The Hollowmen focuses on the workings of an internal think tank, set up by the Prime Minister, whose responsibility is long-term policy vision. The unit's task is to stop worrying about tomorrow's headlines, and to start worrying about next week's.

"ABC audiences still remember and talk about Frontline, and they are going to love The Hollowmen – a timely and very funny political satire," he said.

JOE THE PLUBMER

He is not a licensed plumber afterall.
He made 40K last year. Owes $1,200 in back taxes and has no plans to buy a business making over $250,000

He would actually be better off with the Obama tax plan.

It seems he was an unveted political plant by McCain operatives.

ALFRED SMITH CHARITY DINNER...

John McCain was brilliantly funny reading his comedic speech last night in NYC. Barack was so so.

The needed October surprise for John would have to be a 5000 point increase in the stock market and a 20% rise in home prices.

Joe the Plumber is actually a Sam. I don't believe he was a plant. He was just an idiot who wanted to stump with Obama. He never expected to get the press he got and probably wishes he hadn't. Now he needs a plumber's license to work and better damn well pay his taxes.

Actually, he does not need a license for the classof work he does do, in his county.

He is actually a plumber in that he works on plumbing. The daydream of having a business making 250L was just that, a velliety.

McCain did himself a disservice in grabbing the poor guy and making an icon out of him. Turns out he doesn't symbolize what McCain wants said, leaving John with yet another scrap of egg on his grizzled face.

And the sad thing is that all the commentators now seem to agree that McCain's only real hope of winning would be the Bradley Effect - voters who are too embarrassed to admit they are racists when asked, but vote on racist lines in the secrecy of the polling booth.

That's a hell of a thing for a decent man to hope will happen.
