Others have already mentioned the incident of a young Pennsylvania coed who claimed to have been attacked by a 200 lb black man who happened to be an Obama supporter. A backward 'B' was carved into her cheek and there seems to be what looks like a black eye.

She has recanted after 24 hours, a lie detecter test, 7 hours of police interrogations and a good night's sleep. She said she did it all on her own.

The fly in ointment according to reports on the MSNBC show Countdown is that the PA RNC chairman called 3 TV stations and several newspapers and gave them the original account of a poor white girl savagely carved up and sexually attacked PRIOR to the girl's interview by the Police!

Why would she go to her RNC boss first before going to the hospital or the police?



The president of Fox news (the guy in charge of national Republican talking points) has weighed in on this saying that if this story gets out of control the McCain Campaign is over , forever under the cloud of race baiting.
Drudge also began to run the original story and is now in limbo.

We should all feel sorry for the girl who now claims she has mental problems and acted entirely on her own...

...except she is a long time time Young Republican representative at her college who has devoted many weeks of her time to the McCain Palin campaign.

It is now out there. People who will relish the chance to speak fearfully of blacks emboldened by Barack, deflowering the white maidenhead of America now have a model victim.

It will be up to an investigative journalist to present evidence that the PA Republican chairman had a finger in this pie from the begining.

I could not find the Oct. Surprise thread which would have suited this observation nicely.

Within hours of the alleged attack, not days, both John McCain and Sarah Palin telephoned the "victim" with their sympathy and support.

They weren't phony votes. They were votes that were cast honestly, but unaware of the residency laws in the state of Ohio. The prosecutor has said that there was no evidence of any criminal intent, just ignorance of the law.

Update - Caledonia man says he regrets what he did to Obama volunteer.

CALEDONIA — A husband and wife are dealing with emotions of regret and embarrassment, after the husband pulled the hair of an Obama campaign worker during an altercation outside their house Saturday afternoon.

Ronald Goetsch, 71, confirmed on Sunday afternoon that he was the man who pulled the hair of canvasser Nancy Takehara, 58, of Chicago, when the two had a heated verbal exchange on Saturday. The exchange was over alleged voter improprieties in other states and the role of voter registration groups in those situations, Goetsch said.

On Saturday night in a telephone interview with WISN television, Takehara said "he (Goetsch) grabbed me by the back of the neck. I thought he was going to rip my hair out of my head. He was pounding on my head and screaming."

Goetsch said he did pull the woman's hair, but denies hitting or slapping her. Takehara did not seek medical attention at the scene of the incident, Caledonia police said in a Saturday press release.

Police said the incident remains under investigation and a report, upon completion, will be forwarded to the Racine County District Attorney's office for consideration of possible charges. Goetsch had not been arrested as of Sunday.

On Sunday, the Obama campaign released the following statement:

"Last night's unfortunate incident in Caledonia was isolated and extremely rare, and we are grateful our volunteer is doing well," said Phil Walczak, Wisconsin communications director for Obama For America. "Thousands of Wisconsinites welcome our canvassers at the doors each and every day and whether or not they support Barack Obama. There is an overwhelming desire across the state to have a dialogue about how to bring our country forward."

Bill Folk, chairman of the Republican Party of Racine County, also issued a statement that condemned campaign violence and vandalism in general.
