The New Yorker this week has a piece,
Searching for Robert Johnson that might be of interest to Johnsonophiles and other demonologists.

Oops, it's not the New Yorker, I'm sorry, it's Vanity Fair. Is there any way I can change the header?

Thank-you very much. I enjoyed that immensely. It looks as though little more will ever emerge to supplement the facts we have about Robert Johnson. The final story will be something like the Shakespeare biographies - a mixture of guesswork hanging on a few conflicting facts. It's the stuff of legend I guess.

Maybe. Maybe people will start to gossip.

I have to say the fact that the landlord wrote on the back of the death certificate that he'd died of syphilis raised my hackles - I instantly started thinking "Was that landlord a pal of the man who gave him the whiskey?"

Well, yeah... I saw the pic at Tweesblues and it is well known that Johnny Shines and RJ player together so I reckon it is fir real...

What isn't too real is the "crossroads" stuff... Larry Johnson, maybe, but not Robert...
