well , I was just thinking about something else than the crisis that
are goin on here at home and I nedd to get that of my mind , so
I started to look for thoughts ... what is the instrument that
has been in Iceland sinc the norse came to here .....

Thanks, skarpi. I've heard the langspil before, and I must admit that I feared it would sound very harsh, but no. The videos you suggest are enjoyable.

Another good thing is that clicking on your link brings up a number of other interesting instruments such as the epinette and the dulcimer and others whose names I don't even know.

As you say, listen and look.

I play fretted dulcimer. My newest piece is "He is an Englishman" from HMS Pinafore.

I'm so sorry to hear about the crisis in your beautiful country. I hope everything works out.

What a beautiful instrument; makes me want to "modify" by mountain dulcimer. (Not really, but I would love to have a langspil!)

I don't think you'd need to modify your dulcimer,kat, just try a different technique. Type "bowed dulcimer" into YouTube.
