I thought a number of people here would be interested in this article about a man finding coins in the Netherlands:

Thanks, jeff. That's interesting. I wish I could see a close-up of the art on the coins.

By the way, the article has an option called 'buzz up.' What is 'buzzing up?"

I'm with leeneia. I looked all over for a piece that featured a close-up of one of the coins, and it simply wasn't to be found.

There is some sort of thing on Yahoo that allows you to give an article a sort of importance, or "buzz," that makes it show up in that category. At least that's what I think it is.

Glad you liked it. I thought it was interesting. Anything still intact from that long ago is pretty cool to me.

Since these coins were minted, do they raise issues about how civilized these cultures were? If so, it would seem to put the Romans in a worse light than usual, as they were attacking other civilizations, not just "barbarians."

Yeah, but you're attacking people whether you're attacking tribal units in tents or cities.

Well, since the Romans invaded and conquered the Greeks, the Carthaginians and the Parthians, it wouldn't seem that they had any real objection to attacking other civilizations.
