Subject: BS: Need Philly Driving Help in January From: wysiwyg Date: 24 Nov 08 - 11:17 PM The referral to a neurologist (and the annual visit to the internist who keeps me kicking, will coincide in the third week of January, in Philadelphia and Conshohocken, PA. I will be driving the 3 hours from home to Harrisburg, PA, and sleeping (cozy, comfy, conveneniently, and cost-free) in Harrisburg anbd going back and forth the 21st ansd 23rd. I can take the train into Philly for the neuro, I think-- at Lankenau. (Someone is looking into that side of the trip for me.) But the internist on the Friday is not reachable via train, and for reasons I'd just as soon not mention, buses are a no-go. Is there anyone-- a Catter or trusted friend of a Catter-- who can help me out to get from the Philly Amtrak station to Conshohocken, and back, on Friday, January 23, in the afternoon? And no, in case you're thinking sleepover, thanks in advance, but no sleepy in Philly. Sleepies will all be in H'burg. ~Susan |

Subject: RE: BS: Need Philly Driving Help in January From: wysiwyg Date: 25 Nov 08 - 09:52 AM Got a LOVELY PM with a maybe, and some great nav clues. Would you believe I've been trying to figure this out since early October and it took me till yesterday to realize I should JUST ASK MUDCAT? [shaking head] There's stroke-brain for ya! :~) CRS! :~) AFGO. ~Susan |

Subject: RE: BS: Need Philly Driving Help in January From: wysiwyg Date: 10 Jan 09 - 03:47 PM The parameters of my trip have expanded a bit, and I will be in the area around the 19th thru the 29th. Love to see some Catters if any of you care to visit Harrisburg while I am there. The medical stuff has not changed. One busy and very kind person has offered huge help for one of the appointments, and I'm refreshing this just on the chance someone else may also be available who may have more of what we laughingly call "free time" around our place. ~Susan |

Subject: RE: BS: Need Philly Driving Help in January From: wysiwyg Date: 13 Jan 09 - 01:34 PM Belay that weekend train idea-- not going to be practical. Jan. 23 - 1PM medical (Philly) followed by overighter in Lancaster Sat. Jan. 24 - back in H'burg Sun. Jan. 25 - church (H'burg) Tue. Jan. 27 - meeting (H'burg) Wed. Jan. 29 - depart (AM). ~Susan |

Subject: RE: BS: Need Philly Driving Help in January From: Susan of DT Date: 13 Jan 09 - 04:08 PM Susan It is possible to get the train from Harrisburg to Princeton Junction (our closest station). On Sunday Jan 25, they seem to run only one train - early in the morning. If you were to skip church, you could take that train, come to our Sing, stay overnight with us and train back to Harrisburg on Monday. Or come the night before and go to church around here. Or, depending when your medical appointment is on Wed, Jan 21, and when your meeting is that Thursday: (1) We could pick you up in Philly and bring you here for dinner and/or overnight and put you on the train. (2) We could meet you in Philly and visit with you somewhere there over dinner or what have you. What's you preference? Shall I call you to discuss? What's a good time? |

Subject: RE: BS: Need Philly Driving Help in January From: wysiwyg Date: 13 Jan 09 - 06:58 PM skip church, you could take that train, come to our Sing, stay overnight with us and train back to Harrisburg on Monday. Or come the night before and go to church around here. Thanks, it sounds like heaven.... but in this case "church" is a business "meeting," and I have a definite plan there. No one comes to the Sing from west of Philly and wants to do some extra driving?!?!? (Kidding) The Weds. sounds most likely; it's the neuro appt and I may be in motormouth mode (happy to see friends). How late can I train back? The Thursday appt is all day and I am well known for booking too much fun. (strokebrain) and for about 10 minutes I actually thought I had Thursday freee, LOL. I wrote a whole paragraph about sleeping needs, LOL. Dinner in Philly Thurs. maybe makes more sense. See PMs for contact info and save it-- Max is making scary Cat noises. ~Susan |

Subject: RE: BS: Need Philly Driving Help in January From: Susan of DT Date: 13 Jan 09 - 08:12 PM If we use the Trenton train station, instead of Princeton Junction, there are lots more trains. The last on is 7:25 pm gets to Harrisburg at 10. Monday Jan 26?? I'll call you tomorrow. |

Subject: RE: BS: Need Philly Driving Help in January From: wysiwyg Date: 13 Jan 09 - 08:20 PM I'll know better about Monday train-ability after the other runs for the medicals-- I may want to limit my running around or I may want to do moremoremore. I just thought that since I will already be IN Philly Weds., that might be simplest. I do not anticipate being faster than a speeding bullet, or leaping over any tall buildings. I'm quite the homebody (by choice); H'burg has a nice home away from home, so I may hole up. ?!? But if Greg comes down for a few days of this trip-- he LIKES to drive, so ya never know what-all may end up! Indian food? ~Susan |

Subject: RE: BS: WYS H'burg-Philly Driveless Trip, January From: wysiwyg Date: 14 Jan 09 - 01:19 PM One thing that complicates the train-travel to and from Philly is that where I will be staying, I have no parking space. That means quite a trek from the apt. to fetch car. Getting back again there is not only the late-night parking at the train station to consider (in a neighborhood I do not now know), but the late-night trek from either of the two inconvenient, unsafe parking areas I know of near the apartment. When you add my physical limitations and weather concerns, it's a bit iffy. :~) ~Susan |

Subject: RE: BS: WYS H'burg-Philly Driveless Trip, January From: wysiwyg Date: 15 Jan 09 - 12:19 PM Really enjoyed the chat last night about Monday's plans, even though I was struggling to throw off the too-much-antihistamine brain fog. This sunny AM I realized-- I have a TON of good stuff in the freezer, already in portions, to bring for the freezer in the pied a terre where I'll be lodging. It's so cool-- I have already sen and cooked in its kitchen, so now I'm off to pack a survival box of stuff to take to use, and then LEAVE there for upcoming visits-- ours and others'. The concept is wonderful, and it's very Mudcatly. The hostess has property in town-- a large old house of her own, and the carriage house converted long ago for a grand-daughter's apartment. The young lady moved on in life, and the apartment is kept now for visiting guests (diocesan and city-cultural folks). So it is fully stocked, but there is also room for visitors/users to contribute to the stock. Example-- last time I was there I ate a LOT of the good chocolate I found in the icebox-- left by a previous guest. Of course I left quite a bit of it there for the next visitor, but now it's MY turn to leave "a little something." And extra Ziplocs for the fruit I'll pack up there for that freezer. I also do what visitors to our home have done-- I take a CD as a hostess gift. I'll take a few for the hostess and a few more for the apartment's other visitors to enjoy. Bwahahahaaa.... I market Mudcat (and Catters) everywhere..... A set of linens I love.... A smallish cast iron skillet griddle.... Maybe a spare MP3 player..... ..... I wanna jump on the bed! :~) ~Susan |

Subject: RE: BS: WYS H'burg-Philly Driveless Trip, January From: wysiwyg Date: 17 Jan 09 - 11:59 AM In case I miss any "let's meet" messages, my schedule is now fuller than the above, but DT-Susan has my cell #. I will not have reliable internet access. That means the prayer chain will be down till Jan. 29, too, unless Mmario (or anyone else with password capability) looks in. ~Susan |

Mon. Jan. 19 - arrive H'burg, unpack & crash Wed. Jan. 21 - medical, Philly Thu. Jan. 22 - meeting, H'burg Fri. Jan. 23 - 1PM medical (Philly) followed by overighter in Lancaster Sat. Jan. 24 - back in H'burg Sun. Jan. 25 - church (H'burg) Mon. Jan. 26 - company coming Tue. Jan. 27 - meeting (H'burg) Wed. Jan. 29 - depart (AM). Plus pool as possible, daily best (doc's oders). ~S~ |
