Subject: RE: Plug: Seamus Kennedy in DFW on 6 Dec. From: JedMarum Date: 28 Nov 08 - 09:45 PM LOL - Thanks Seamus. I was thinking today that I wish I'd known you were playing before I booked the nigh elsewhere ... but our paths will cross again, I'm sure. |
Subject: RE: Plug: Seamus Kennedy in DFW on 6 Dec. From: Uncle Phil Date: 01 Dec 08 - 09:05 AM Seamus - Michelle and I are looking forward to being there Saturday. We've seen other shows at that venue -- the old movie theater on the square in Garland completely renovated. It's nice. Have fun in Austin. - Phil |
Subject: RE: Plug: Seamus Kennedy in DFW on 6 Dec. From: Seamus Kennedy Date: 01 Dec 08 - 02:51 PM Any and all Texas 'catters, make sure to come up and say Hi to Ed and me. Phil, I believe Ed has a golf game lined up for us. Is it really warm enough for golf down there? All the best. Seamus |
Subject: RE: Plug: Seamus Kennedy in DFW on 6 Dec. From: Uncle Phil Date: 01 Dec 08 - 08:22 PM Golf should work. Mid-seventies in Austin for the next couple days, a bit cooler later in the week. - Phil |

Subject: RE: Plug: Seamus Kennedy in DFW on 6 Dec. From: Big Mick Date: 04 Dec 08 - 01:08 PM The only way I can imagine this show being better would be if Jed were in it. Ed Miller is one of the great voices out there today. And when he sings Brian MacNeil written songs ....... magic. Jed turned me on to Ed's stuff, and Brian's stuff ages ago. We are working out an arrangement of Song of the Hammer right now. And when Ed sings Robbie Burns, the heather starts growing out of the walls. Amazing. Get him to sing Aye, Waukin' O'. Many folks concentrate on Seamus' wide repertoire of songs, and his humour. Fair enough, because in both areas he is lightening quick, and deep in knowledge. But if you really want a treat, watch him when he decides to show his mastery of stringed instruments. I would bet that when he is playing with Ed, he will do some backing stuff that will blow your kilt up. One night in Washington DC, he and I did a little pub hopping. I watched him sit down and play session stuff, and was gobsmacked at his mastery of the fretboard. So ...... DFW'ers. I would strongly recommend you get to this show. I would give anything to be there and sing with two of my musical heroes (one who is a great friend and brother). You will only have regrets if you miss it. Seamus, tell Ed he has a huge, in the literal and rhetorical sense, in Michigan. All the best, Mick |

Subject: RE: Plug: Seamus Kennedy in DFW on 6 Dec. From: Big Mick Date: 04 Dec 08 - 01:16 PM Buddy, I would bet that they will wedge in more than a few. Guys like you and I would have a hard time performing with these guys, cuz we would constantly be either laughing, or trying to figure out what these 'tick lads were sayin'...... ***chuckle*** |
Subject: RE: Plug: Seamus Kennedy in DFW on 6 Dec. From: artbrooks Date: 04 Dec 08 - 01:22 PM Jenn and I have had the experience of seeing and hearing Seamus many times (spent a week on a boat with the guy last January!), and he shouldn't be missed by anyone who can get to any of his performances. Herself is in San Antone overseeing the birth of our granddaughter - she says she expects to be too busy Saturday night! Seamus, she says please put in a fix, if you think you have any influence. |

Subject: RE: Plug: Seamus Kennedy in DFW on 6 Dec. From: Big Mick Date: 04 Dec 08 - 03:29 PM Kids these days. No sense of the important things in life. Goodluck to the family, Art. Mick |
Subject: RE: Plug: Seamus Kennedy in DFW on 6 Dec. From: Uncle Phil Date: 04 Dec 08 - 07:54 PM Well, heck, they have maternity wards in the hospitals in Garland. If the mom-to-be has any kind of sense of humor we can still make this thing work! But best wishes to the family either way. - Phil |
Subject: RE: Plug: Seamus Kennedy in DFW on 6 Dec. From: Seamus Kennedy Date: 08 Dec 08 - 12:19 PM Phil, it was great seeing you and Michelle at the show in Garland. What a delightful venue. I love refurbished old theaters. Ed and Rich and I actually rehearsed for the show! Imagine! But we had a ball and we thanks everyone who came out. Seamus |
Subject: RE: Plug: Seamus Kennedy in DFW on 6 Dec. From: Uncle Phil Date: 08 Dec 08 - 10:14 PM Thanks, Seamus. You guys put on a great show, in spite of rehearsing. Hope to see you again soon. - Phil Ed, Seamus, and Rick |
