I once worked for an insurance company IT department where someone came round collecting for a benefit fund for insurance salesmen. Amidst cries of "Why don't they take out insurance?" and "What next, homeless estate agents?" I think they collected a few buttons and used bus tickets.

Homeless estate agents - is a reality (not realty) in the US. And I saw that on some show in the UK.
