Subject: Balalaika 6-String Needs New Home From: Charley Noble Date: 01 Jan 09 - 11:40 AM In the interests of reducing clutter I would like to find a new home for a six-string balalaika, made in Romania around 1975. It's a lovely looking instrument, not particularly fancy but well made and in excellent condition. I learned a couple of Russian tunes on it but my Balkin musical career was aborted in favor of old-time banjo. I purchased it at the time in Ann Arbor for about $350 from Dave's Music Store and would be willing to sell it for that amount, with an appropriate donation to Mudcat. If there is any interest here, I'd be happy to provide a link with digital images of the instrument. Cheerily, Charley Noble |

Subject: RE: Balalaika 6-String Needs New Home From: Barry Finn Date: 02 Jan 09 - 12:18 AM Hey Charlie, You know Carol C from the Press Room she plays great cittern, that's something that might be right up her alley. I have her e-mail if you want PM or e-mail me, or bring it next time if you're not in any hurry. Barry |

Subject: RE: Balalaika 6-String Needs New Home From: Charley Noble Date: 02 Jan 09 - 10:09 AM Barry- That's a good suggestion. I do have an e-mail address for Carol. Are you sure you don't want to learn to play it yourself? It would make a novel accompaniment for traditional Russian sea shanties. Cheerily, Charley Noble |
