Subject: BS: Go Go Google Water! From: katlaughing Date: 06 Feb 09 - 02:47 PM Wonderful interview on NPR's Science Friday with a fellow from Google and a "resident explorer" from the Natl. Geographic about now being plumb the ocean depths. It's just the beginning, but oh so exciting! Here's a blurb: Oceans and seas that were once featureless expanses of blue in Google's atlas came to life this week. Oceanographer Sylvia Earle and Google Earth guru John Hanke share the highlights and explain what home explorers can spot in this newly digitized version of the world's waters. It was also neat to hear them talk about how much we can now see by "visiting" Mars via Google Sky. They said you can see the canyons on Mars better than Google Earth shows up the Grand Canyon! The audio will be available after 6pm HERE. |
