Subject: RE: Is Fred Neil still alive From: bankley Date: 12 Feb 09 - 09:23 PM Stephen Stills once said that his two favorite singers were Fred Neil and Tim Hardin..... I won't argue |
Subject: RE: Is Fred Neil still alive From: Mark Ross Date: 12 Feb 09 - 10:10 PM Fred once told me after a disastrous guest set at the Cafe AuGoGo, " A coffehouse performer is entitled to two things, one is respect, and the other is to do any goddamn thing thing he wants because he is where he is and the audience is where they is." I had to follow, all by my lonesome, a power ten piece rock group. Like I said, a disaster. Fred told me the next time I found myself in that situation I should just keep strumming until they settled down(the audience I mean). Mark Ross |
Subject: RE: Is Fred Neil still alive From: Wesley S Date: 13 Feb 09 - 09:11 AM Fed Neil was a real classic. One of the warmest voices that ever existed. I just wish he had recored more later in his life. As far as I know I have all of his recorded projects. |

Subject: RE: Is Fred Neil still alive From: Jerry Rasmussen Date: 13 Feb 09 - 02:28 PM I heard Fred many times at the Gaslight Cafe in the early 60's. His voice made the room vibrate. Jerry |
Subject: RE: Is Fred Neil still alive From: van lingle Date: 13 Feb 09 - 05:56 PM I guess he went where the sun keeps shining through the pouring rain. I seem to remember hearing he got involved with dolphin research down here in Florida. His version of Elizabeth Cotten's "Shake Sugaree" is about as good as music gets, IMHO. |

Subject: RE: Is Fred Neil still alive From: GUEST,just visiting Date: 06 Apr 09 - 01:54 PM One of the most powerful and effect voices of all time. Love Dolphins of course ~ but check out his soulfull deep voice and the message in Please Send Me Somebody to Love ~ "show the world how to get along, peace will enter when all hate is gone..." Rest in Peace Fred ;* |
Subject: RE: Is Fred Neil still alive From: GUEST,just visiting Date: 06 Apr 09 - 02:00 PM effective, I meant to say effective... and you got love Fred, you got love baby ;* |
Subject: RE: Is Fred Neil still alive From: dwditty Date: 07 Apr 09 - 08:47 AM One of my all time favorites, too. He often sang with Vince Martin - there is a "double album CD" out with their Tear Down the Walls and Fred's Bleeker and Macdougal. Not through any doings by Fred, but Vince has been completely left out of the roylaties. You can find Vince on MYSPACE dw |
