Subject: RE: BS: Westminster Dog Show From: gnu Date: 19 Feb 12 - 04:32 PM That shepherd was best in show for me. Closely followed by the doberman. But, it's about the match to the breed standard and the judges judge... period. I guess I was biased against a "snack" winning. I am surprised at times when I talk to my friends who think it's all about the dog. The object of the "competition" is all about the breeder. The dog does not win. The breeder wins. |
Subject: RE: BS: Westminster Dog Show From: gnu Date: 16 Feb 13 - 12:06 PM Starts on my TV in a few minutes. |
Subject: RE: BS: Westminster Dog Show From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 16 Feb 13 - 12:14 PM I thought this thread was going to be about the goings on in the House of Commns. |
Subject: RE: BS: Westminster Dog Show From: gnu Date: 16 Feb 13 - 01:41 PM Heheheheeee! Good one. I see the 15" Beagle is as purebred as they get... he yawned on the table. I laughed. My bro came home from 3 years in Germany and Duke was about a year old. Bro arrived when nobody was home, walked in and Duke was asleep under the kitchen table... open one eye, said "mmmfff" and went back to sleep. |
Subject: RE: BS: Westminster Dog Show From: Ebbie Date: 16 Feb 13 - 02:24 PM When I saw that unbelievable mop of scuttling hair again, I was afraid she would win again this year. Glad she didn't. The Affenpinscher was cute- but I didn't realize it is a toy breed. I thought they are more in the 25-pound weight class. I'll have to look it up. |
Subject: RE: BS: Westminster Dog Show From: Ebbie Date: 16 Feb 13 - 06:38 PM One other time I thought I was wrong- but I was wrong. This time I'm not wrong; I'm just not right. |
Subject: RE: BS: Westminster Dog Show From: gnu Date: 16 Feb 13 - 08:04 PM I haven't been quite right for years and it suits me. Tomorrow's TV show will be, hopefully, as great as usual. I had to tape the rest of today's show and hope to watch it tomorrow morn... just hope that isn't at 3AM again. |
Subject: RE: BS: Westminster Dog Show From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 17 Feb 13 - 09:06 AM When I heard the affenpinscher won, I went to YouTube to learn about the breed. The educational video listed five or six health problems they are apt to have, then added that they are very difficult to housebreak. And finally, not good with children. I certainly hope the win doesn't kick off a fad for this problematic breed. |
Subject: RE: BS: Westminster Dog Show From: gnu Date: 17 Feb 13 - 02:14 PM AAAAAGGGGGHHHHHHHH! Why would you post the winner???????!!!!!! I am watching the show as I type! As soon as I saw the grandson of Josh (Newf of note), I said, "Winner." and probably would have ignored any others after that even if I thought they were better. I would have really enjoyed the rest of the show. I will but now it's just to see the dogs... all the thrill of victory is gone! My life seems shallow and pointless. Except that my life is filled with the immediate need to monitor a nasty snowstorm. Correction... today kinda sucks. Ohhhh, life is good... I guess... kinda... whatever. |
Subject: RE: BS: Westminster Dog Show From: Nigel Parsons Date: 18 Feb 13 - 05:52 AM My dad, Jim Parsons (R.I.P.), judged dog shows all over the world. UK & Ireland, America, S.Africa, Australia, Finland, Russia ... Mostly terrier breeds (Having been a breeder of Staffs, Norfolks, Norwiches, soft coated Wheatens, Griffons, Cavaliers, ...) Reading this thread brings a lot back! |
Subject: RE: BS: Westminster Dog Show From: gnu Date: 18 Feb 13 - 06:08 AM I knew as soon as I saw the final lineup who... which?... was gonna win. The little rat couldn't have been a better match if it had pissed on the judge's shoes. Wasn't who I was hoping would win but it ain't about favourites. I played back the judging of the 15" beagle a three times and roared laughing every time. That yawn was priceless!!! |
