Do you have one of those plug in GPS units like I do in your car. Talking with my daughter, she said around Denver the police were saying that there is a high rate of cars being broken into for the GPS systems. The don't want the GPS to sell, they steal it, hit the home button and it takes them right to your home, they then rob your house. They are also sure that at least one of you is not home and more times then not nobody is home.

Never thought of that, I will take mine and put it in the trunk when I travel

Dan

One good reason why I still use paper maps....

So the trick is to store your "Home" under a code name and set "Home" to your nearest police station!

I bought one and the guy at the store recommended that I never leave it in the car. Not too difficult as it's pretty small.

Same problems reported in the UK.

Next step up is that they break into cars which have the ring-marks left on the windscreen where owners have carefully removed the GPS and its mount to store them in the glove-box or trunk. So clean the screen inside as well, if you have that type of mounting.

One way to fight back is to input a false "home" destination that is near enough home to be useable, but not near enough to help a potential burglar. I know one guy who chose his local police station for this purpose, but he hasn't had a unit lifted yet AFAIK.

On much the same subject, my Beautiful Wife and I have, in our cell phones' phone directories, instead of "HOME" and the phone number, just the street name and the number.
