So the Pyrates Royale will be voyaging with several fans/friends to Bermuda this July. We'll be spending 3 days in St.George's I expect that we will be visiting the maritime museum in Kings Wharf, hitting a few pubs, frying ourselves on beaches, snorkling, and such.
What else should we be doing there? Any experienced advice?

Say hi to my family there (probably half the island).

If you like history, there's Fort Catherine. Hamilton has much more activity than St. George.
Don't plan on hiring a car. Unless they have changed since I was there, it is not allowed. You may, however, rent a motor bike.

Yes, we will be looking for history, rather than the Bermuda golfing tour. The maritime museum and old naval base are definite stops. I am also looking for the landing ramps for the Pan Am flying boats. They would land in Bermuda to take on fuel. This was a cover for British and American intelligence officiers to search the onboard mail for Nazi agent microdots and secret messages. Many were found.
We'll be renting scooters or taking water taxis.
How about notable pubs, nice beaches, good places to watch sunsets?
Anyone...Beuller?

Must tell you my gut reaction seeing the thread title was a nasty, only-half-joking "WHO's getting to go THERE!!!??" My second reaction, opening the thread to see who, was "Oh good, no one I know, won't have to kill him/her." My third reaction-- the better side of me I am sure-- "Oh good for YOU! Need pictures, lots and lots of sunny, watery pictures!"

That time of year, dontchaknow.

Hey, Suz, there's still time for you to sign on the cruise. We leave from Baltimore on July 19th. We'll have 30-40 pals with us. That could include YOU!!!

In the Mid /Late seventies , THE place for any Folkie stuff was The Robin Hood in Hamilton ! I think it may have gone over to Rock now ,
but it MAY be worth a look ! I was part of a duo that wss the resident Music in '73 - '74 . Probably one of the best Gigs I ever have had !

Tell me, why are you going in July? Spring and fall are the best times, the weather is perfect then.
I wanted to hire a motor scooter and ride it to the end of the islands, but never got around to it.

Skivee, I don't understand your question. That title goes way back in Burmuda's history. It's quite a civilized place now with a civilized government.

Don't forget to look out for the triangle

or

The large pockets of gas which are common on the sea bed in the area. When the gas rises to the surface they dissolve in the water, decreasing the buoyancy of ships and causing them to sink.

How true is that Kendall (the gas thing)? Is it a myth, or are you Jesus Christ :-)

'Are there no other Catters with advice about "The Isle of the Devils"?

The closest I have come to Bermuda is St Croix in the US Virgin Islands. Late in the trip, I came across that advice that when dealing with local people, it is very important that each encounter start with a courteous greeting, such as a Hello and a wish for a good day. (Listen and imitate.) People who do not do that are considered yahoos.

Here is an example I heard on a passenger give to a van driver: "Good afternoon, sir, on this beautiful day and a Happy Father's Day to you. Are you driving into _______?"

I strongly suspect the same will be true in Bermuda.
==============
As for local music, in my travels I have generally found that a good place to ask is the desk at a hotel.
