Subject: RE: While Max is moving... From: Max Date: 27 Feb 09 - 07:51 PM Easy? Then why am I so tired? I "slept" on an air mattress last night in an empty house next to a box of houseplants, a lizard and the Mudcat server. I should have taken a picture, it was a site to see. I moved the family last week, and settled on the sale of the house today. I used the lizard as an excuse to the buyers to let me keep the server there until after settlement to minimize downtime. Truth is, I had a ball. I love this shit. |
Subject: RE: While Max is moving... From: jacqui.c Date: 27 Feb 09 - 08:14 PM And are we glad that you do Max. What sort of lizard is it? I have two friends who are very much into reptiles. |
Subject: RE: While Max is moving... From: Max Date: 27 Feb 09 - 09:11 PM A leopard gecko. It's lived well beyond it's average lifespan, so I was glad to have not ended it. |
Subject: RE: While Max is moving... From: kendall Date: 27 Feb 09 - 10:15 PM Great job done in jig time. Thanks Max. |
Subject: RE: While Max is moving... From: GUEST,.gargoyle Date: 27 Feb 09 - 10:42 PM My dear friend "Rebel Yell" paid a visit and read the threads to the talk-talk-talk-Carol-likes-to-talk ....Website posted as a MudCat alternative in the first post of this thread
This hosting site appeared to JUST to her third-world liking. A chance to experience western civilization in ALL of its refined perfection.
It is presented as an example of "Democracy In Action" and not the sort of kingdom found within "Max's Mudcat Monarcry." ANYONE - could become a "citizen" and "everyone" that registered had a vote. Several Mudcat disenters of past flame/fame are registered and Scorch and Torch and paddle a saddle.
Except ... AS noted above...in this thread...."disconcordance" within the "democratic voting community" is discouraged and their head will be dislocated their spin.
I am doing JUST Fine in Max's Peaceable Kingdom - with an occasional - shout-out from a "LifeGuard on Duty" to not "Run on the Decks" recognising it is for my own safety.
The Mudcat, is like Uncle Tom's Topsey - it just grew - and grew - and grew. I have grown with it....Twelve years ago I would have been screaming about 863 - phone numbers and the drive for Independence ... today I worry if such a reference might land a "curious soul" in Federal Prison.
All things considered....Ms. Rebel Yell .... will stay away from the welcoming fold of the democratic Carol's TalkTalkTalk and she will explore the posibilities afforded under Max's more benevolent dictatorship.
Sincerely,
Since RebelYell's home country of origin...as recorded by Carol's ISP loggings ... is within the domain of the family of Saud ... magestic magnaminity is understood and preferable to poisoned prejudice. |

Subject: RE: While Max is moving... From: CarolC Date: 27 Feb 09 - 10:53 PM I just offered the use of it while the Mudcat was down. I wasn't looking to take people away from the Mudcat, if that is what is being suggested. I'm not particularly attached to whether or not people choose to take me up on the offer. We have a wonderful group of people already. Newcomers are always welcome, but it won't ruin my day if people would prefer to use the Facebook page or the Failte Folk forum. |
Subject: RE: While Max is moving... From: Megan L Date: 28 Feb 09 - 02:40 AM Thank you Max Max on a lilo with a geko serving a server :) the beuys as daft as a brush but we are so glad that he is. |
Subject: RE: While Max is moving... From: Bonnie Shaljean Date: 28 Feb 09 - 05:34 AM Houseplants, a lizard and the Mudcat server Hey. I like it. It's got rhythm. Make a good song. You could sing it to the tune of something like 'The Atchison, Topeka And The Santa Fe'.* Last word doesn't quite scan, though. Anybody think of a one-syllable stand-in for Server? - - - * http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7NHWKbQuRw |
Subject: RE: While Max is moving... From: John MacKenzie Date: 28 Feb 09 - 05:51 AM Thanks for that Bonnie, I did enjoy it, even though the delectable Miss Garland, never could carry a tune properly. In the process of listening to it though, I discovered this Now that really takes me back! |
Subject: RE: While Max is moving... From: Bonnie Shaljean Date: 28 Feb 09 - 05:54 AM Oh, wow - that recording used to reduce my mother to a quivering, seething, fuming ball of pure rage. She could remember the real Blue Moon, you see, from her own era when it was new. But I loved it. LOL!! |
Subject: RE: While Max is moving... From: Max Date: 28 Feb 09 - 08:25 AM one syllable server: box |
Subject: RE: While Max is moving... From: Bonnie Shaljean Date: 28 Feb 09 - 09:32 AM When the Cat goes down you can stop the clocks Cause nothing's gonna move until my screen unblocks I'd rather be tortured by electric shocks Than lose the plants and lizard and the Mudcat box I can drink too much and pig out on chocs I can read the kid a story about Goldilocks Play my records, watch the telly but nothing rocks Like the houseplants and the lizard and the Mudcat box Wouldn't trade it for the gold in old Fort Knox The houseplants and the lizard and the Mudcat box |
Subject: RE: While Max is moving... From: jacqui.c Date: 28 Feb 09 - 09:35 AM Nice one Bonnie! |
Subject: RE: While Max is moving... From: gnu Date: 28 Feb 09 - 10:57 AM Bonnie... I was just singing a tune called "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong" by The Spin Doctors and that fits perfect. (It ain't folk or blues but it works.) |
Subject: RE: While Max is moving... From: Max Date: 28 Feb 09 - 11:36 AM very nice. Reminds me of the old days. |
Subject: RE: While Max is moving... From: Stilly River Sage Date: 28 Feb 09 - 01:20 PM Hey, Garg, I understood you perfectly. :) It was good to see the cat move so smoothly. I can visualize the spartan circumstances with the air mattress as you finished at the old house. When we first moved into this house (from an apartment) I'd had time after giving 30 days notice to have my contractor pull out the old carpet and finish remodeling the kitchen, but it was like we camped out here while I painted and tiled the bedrooms one at a time. Cots, sleeping bags, a few chairs around a small table in the kitchen until we could unpack everything else. . . it was musical bedrooms for a while. But it was a good time, as we all figured out how to compensate for the house being updated around us. SRS |
Subject: RE: While Max is moving... From: Big Mick Date: 28 Feb 09 - 03:20 PM I expected nothing less. My buddy is a whiz, and I am constantly blown away by his unique ability to juggle so many balls. I think, if the head examine folks were to peek in there, they would find that he is the perfect blend of insane IQ, ADHD, and a dude who just loves folks and family, life, music, and a beagle. Actually, I hope they don't figure out the beagle, cause that might be grounds for committal. I don't think they allow mudcat boxes in a padded cell......LOL. The insane IQ allows him to resolve problems quickly, and then the ADHD kicks in and he moves on to something else, like family, friends, music, and the beagle. The love of all that keeps him checking in until there is a problem again...... then he focuses on fixing it, and getting back on with loving life... see how it works? And we are all the happy recipients of this wonder of nature, and we are all over the world. I'm tellin' ya .... we are the world ...... we are the children .... we are I'll get me aul cap and wellies and see meself out...... All the best, Mick |
Subject: RE: While Max is moving... From: katlaughing Date: 28 Feb 09 - 03:30 PM LOL! It does seem like old times between Bonnie's fine, fun lyrics and Mick waxing quixotic, even garg outdoing himself with colours! |
Subject: RE: While Max is moving... From: Bonnie Shaljean Date: 01 Mar 09 - 06:54 AM Hey, I've just seen a Spiegel The Beagle on MySpace...? No... couldn't be... |
