Subject: Pavane sings Edward From: pavane Date: 16 Mar 09 - 06:43 AM Captured at last! After years of searching, I managed to find a fiddle player (Chashah) to accompany me. The song is "Edward", taken directly from Nic Jones's version on his second album ("Nic Jones", Trailer LER 2027, now "Bulmerised"). His version is far better than mine, though! And mine was recorded on a cheap mic in Chashah's kitchen, so don't expect studio quality. To hear it, go to www.chappuzeau.net click private link enter the password Edward (exactly as shown) (You will then hear why I leave the singing to Mrs Pavane!) |

Subject: RE: Pavane sings Edward From: Jack Blandiver Date: 16 Mar 09 - 07:05 AM Nice one. It's a bit of a faff getting to it though. A direct clicky to the mp3 would be more convenient. For this sort of thing YouSendIt is ideal - 1 week, 100 downloads, entirely free... |

Subject: RE: Pavane sings Edward From: katlaughing Date: 16 Mar 09 - 02:43 PM I agree...you've a very nice voice, though I think your mic might have been louder...the fiddle sounds good, but a tad bit too loud over your voice, imo. Thanks for sharing! |

Subject: RE: Pavane sings Edward From: pavane Date: 17 Mar 09 - 05:04 AM Thank you all for those kind words, and I will see what else I can record. Chashah actually moved some distance away from the mic to try and balance the volume, but that was the best we could do. We only had an hour for her to learn and us to record it. During this final take, her flatmates came in (You can hear the door creaking) and we didn't have time to do another version. She is leaving here on Thursday, so we will not have the chance of getting together for another session. Otherwise I could have gone back with professional mics and a proper recorder, rather than my laptop. |

Subject: RE: Pavane sings Edward From: Mick Tems Date: 17 Mar 09 - 09:09 AM I'll look forward to it! In olden days, when we were very young, Pavane, Mrs Pavane and I were members of the Valley Folk Club in Pontardawe. We've moved now - the Pavanes to the tiny state of Luxembourg and I to the dismal ex-mining sprawl of Beddau, South Wales. Is Beddau a town or a very large village? Stone me - for a population of 20,000, it doesn't even have a pub! |

Subject: RE: Pavane sings Edward From: pavane Date: 17 Mar 09 - 11:16 AM In the days in Pontardawe, I didn't sing or play anything except a little bit of harmonica. And Mrs Pavane didn't sing in public. We were just audience. But the Valley floor singers were great. |
