I have it on very good authority that Acorn 4 aka Dave Taylor has come out as a MELODEON lover.Shock Horror the man that has written the best anti melodeon song has not only bought an Accordeon but one that looks like a Melodeon, and is learning to play.Where will it end?

I'm not actually a melodeonphobe- some of my best friends have one -they're fine individually - it's just when they take over a session in massed ranks.

I hear you're becoming a bit of a virtuoso on the wooden spoon, Nick!

Can you please post the anti-melodeon song here?

Sincerely waiting

Ernest

Here it is:

I usually cut out a couple of verses at singarounds:-

The Melodeons are Coming!

Please don't take it too seriously!

"it's just when they take over a session in massed ranks"

somewhat like bagpipes then...? *LOL*

For some strange reason, banjo players seem to like the song!

Best of luck with your new instrument, Acorn.

I am seriously thinking of setting up a support network for those of us who follow the true faith - no f^&%^&^g melodeons!! This will of course, incorporate accordions and concertinas, and any other instrument of the reed/bellows/push-pull combination.

Join me in a cappella bliss!

I don't know about F*****g melodeons, Liz. I have heard a poem about F*****g concertinas! Les Barker does it.

I like free reeds. So there!
(Yeah, I know plenty of people who like free beer.)

Who was the idiot who started calling unaccompanied songs 'a capella,' anyway? About 90% of the 300 or so that I used to sing would get you thrown out of any chapel in the world!

I like the song, Acorn4. There a counterpart, "Hexagon Zombies' around.

I'm sure that it was 'unaccompanied' up to the point the Flying Pickets released their hit. What does it mean anyhow, Babelfish just ranslates it as 'to nail head' (it is Italian is it not?).

Nice song Acorn4.

Looks like I played a good tune on the wooden spoon

Oops, 'ranslates' translates as translates.

Sugwash, it translates as 'in the church style.' By which it means unaccompanied! Alla Cappella.

Does it by God! Thanks for translating; I still find it a bit pretentious though. I sing the Irish traditional song 'The Cock and the Ass' unaccompanied, it ain't going to go down too well in a church though.

You are going to entirely the wrong churches then!
