I have been informed by my Guitar tech that my Ovation should be hung up on the wall.

I got the guitar from a late girlfriend of mine and it is the guitar I taught myself to play on.
Two years ago it took a tumble and got a crack in the neck just under the head stock.

After that it would tune up o k but then accession-ally it would just de-tune while playing and the strings would go slack.
I sent it to have a full professional set up and the guitar doctor is reluctant to do it.
He tells me to hang it up on the wall and concentrate on playing me Tanglewood.

I feel very close to the guitar in question and the thought of not playing it is horrible.

Strange that it can't be repaired. Many years ago, a good friend of mine stupidly laid down his Gibson 335 Stereo on the carpet at a party. And, of course, somebody put his foot on the neck and snapped the headstock clean off.

It was expertly repaired and sounded good as new. Is it perhaps the case that the Ovation can be repaired but that the repairs might cost more than the guitar is worth? Even so, if you really like it, it might be worth doing.

If Brian Rodgers says it can't be done, it can't be done correctly!

Fair enough - I don't know the man but I'll certainly take your word for it! Shame about the Ovation though - it's always sad when a much-loved instrument gives up the ghost.

Brian is right Pete. He didn't say chuck it out. Put it up on the wall and you can gaze at it as you strum your tanglewood. Look on it like those animal lover's who stuff their pets after they have passed away so that they can still have them around!

I went to Chatham today to pick up me Tanglewood, Superb instrument,

Brian was reluctant to proceed with the Ovation until he got the go ahead from me.
The crack just below the head stock at present is under severe strain enough to pull the guitar to pieces if the crack below the head stock is the is the problem. It has been like that for two days now and it is still intact.
So I have given him the go ahead to proceed and give it a full Pro set up. If its breaks in half once I have paid for the set up at least I can say in to my late girlfriends memory that we tried.( it was her Guitar)
I completely agree with Richard that if Brian says it cannot be done then It cannot be done correctly.
I am confident that the Ovation will return to me has excellent has all the other instruments Brian has done for me. The mans a genius.

Later Brian dropped me off at the Good Intent pub so I could try to secure a booking for a B&B for the Rochester sweeps. Dale said he would make a few phone calls so thats why I went to the Pub.
Well when I walked in There at the bar was a very well known member of the north kent folk scene propping up the bar.
Well that was it was,nt it Drink in Brains out. Then this well known geezer left and I was stuck in the GI talking to the April Fool locals. Six pints and four hours later, I fall out the good intent, with short term memory loss.I had no idea why I went there in the first place. Then I remembered ,B&B.

So I stuck on me sober has a judge face ( Which Immediately fell off)   and went to the nearest B& B and I am booked in for the 2nd 3rd and 4th of May.

So a good day in all.
Ovation Sorted ?
Tanglewood sorted.
B&B sorted.
Me pissed. (sorted)
