Subject: Lyric request From: joshua@weirdness.com Date: 02 Apr 97 - 06:47 PM Dick Gaughan recorded a lullabye with this line in it. I suspect it was written by Ewan MacColl. I'd like very much to find the lyrics and find out who wrote it for sure. Thanks! |
Subject: From: jnewman@altavista.net Date: 12 Dec 98 - 12:14 AM "...only greedy sons of bitches..." This is the reassuring message of a song (perhaps written by Ewan MacColl? It sounds like him) ostensibly sung to a small child during a thunderstorm -- no need to fear the dark and noise; when you wake it will be dawn and your mother and I are here. Peculiarly heartwarming. Something quite recently reminded me of this song, and I don't know where to find it, or even where I originally heard it. I won't ask for the lyrics, as they may be copyrighted, but does anyone know where I can buy the recording so I can learn them? Kind regards, jcn jnewman@altavista.net |
Subject: RE: From: The Shambles Date: 12 Dec 98 - 02:20 AM Dick Gaughan does a great version on his CD 'Different kind of love songs'. I do agree it is a good song and there are losts more good songs on it too. |
