Subject: BS: Thread Ratings From: Slag Date: 25 Jul 09 - 04:52 PM Some threads are great and garner many responses and some are duds that just lie there and stink up the place for a while. And some threads get a lot of views but no written response. How about a 1 to 10 rating for threads you have viewed in lieu of silence? This would be a way to let the author know how his thought or idea was perceived. Gee, I can hardly wait to see how this idea is received... |

Subject: RE: BS: Thread Ratings From: Severn Date: 25 Jul 09 - 05:17 PM The local library system farms out old books and recordings to their used book stores, and I get quite a bit of wonderful stuff that's out of the mainstream, just because it's all done as a computerized popularity contest. I make out like a bandit on such a system. And, of course, some threads die out because someone gave the right information on the first post, so a lot profit from visiting it without the need to add to it. But even the number of hits (and the Clones haver lots of better things to do) is not nescessarily a measure of the ultimate worth if just one person actually gained from it. It's nice, say, if a person gets 50 hits on their birthday thread, but if I don't know then I wouldn't bother posting, even if I read a bit to see where the person fits into the scheme of things. It's all subjective. So I'd give this one a 1/2, threadened with extinction, if I had to grade the premise, but who knows where it'll actually all lead. So really. I'd have to grade it posthumously if I can find it at all after it dies, if I remember the thread name. So, come one, come all, and sho'nuf join the show and give it all its worth's worth..... |

Subject: RE: BS: Thread Ratings From: gnu Date: 25 Jul 09 - 05:41 PM 1.74 so far, in Toto. That's 12.18 in dog shit. Now... that was meant to be a joke. If I offended anyone, I truly don't care. |
Subject: RE: BS: Thread Ratings From: pdq Date: 25 Jul 09 - 05:49 PM Any thread discussing sick kittens and, specifically, picking up their diarrhea-induced poop should get a very low rating. Same with threads about Michael Jackson. |
Subject: RE: BS: Threadbare Ratings? From: Severn Date: 25 Jul 09 - 05:52 PM Dogshit? Is this thread ready to be inturd already? See how long it can live before we bury it. It may not unRavel like a cheap Bolero after all.... |

Subject: RE: BS: Thread Ratings From: Severn Date: 25 Jul 09 - 06:26 PM See, Slag! He saw you and raised you one! Do you raise, call or fold? |
Subject: RE: BS: Thread Ratings From: Slag Date: 25 Jul 09 - 08:06 PM I was wondering how I should do this, add 'em all up and divide by pi or maybe use the quadratic equation to level the playing field! Yes, yes, you were all anticipated and with my totally unbiased "ratalator" I have so far rated all the responses ( except of BWL's) a minus nth to the 7th power. But yer catching on. |
Subject: RE: BS: Thread Ratings From: Peace Date: 25 Jul 09 - 08:09 PM LOL That BWL fellow damned near blinded me. |
Subject: RE: BS: Thread Ratings From: Rapparee Date: 25 Jul 09 - 08:14 PM He has rare, but totally unwarranted, flashes of brilliance. |
Subject: RE: BS: Thread Rate increases From: Severn Date: 25 Jul 09 - 08:27 PM 'Enthsforth, shouldn't "n"-y and all the nths be to the fourth power, whether plus OR nonplussed? The good thing about "N"s, is that they avoid getting you an "X" rating (however,at different times, of course, I had an "X" rating and an "Ex" rating from my former wife. At different times, each was preferable). If I were to rate you at present, I'd rate you as midshipman. How long and by what measurement will it take this thread to fill up a spool? |
Subject: RE: BS: Thread Ratings From: gnu Date: 25 Jul 09 - 08:33 PM Spoor? |
Subject: RE: BS: Thread Ratings From: Peace Date: 25 Jul 09 - 08:38 PM Good lord . . . . |
Subject: RE: BS: Threat Raidings From: Severn Date: 25 Jul 09 - 08:41 PM We're all just trying to make "N"s meet, as long as they justify the means, at least is spirit, with variable results.... |
Subject: RE: BS: Thread Ratings From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 25 Jul 09 - 08:53 PM CAUTION: This thread is not rated for pressures above 150 PSI. Exposure to higher pressures could result in dismemberment, disembowelment, impailment, spontaneous combustion, death, and cooties. |
Subject: RE: BS: Thread Ratings From: Peace Date: 25 Jul 09 - 08:55 PM Whew. Thought you was gonna say crabs. The rest I can live with--well, maybe not the death thing . . . . |
