Subject: RE: BS: Paris Picasso Museum closed for 2 years? From: Stilly River Sage Date: 23 Aug 09 - 10:22 AM They should have taken the idea from the Chicago Institute of Art a couple of years ago. They were undergoing renovations so they sent their marvelous collection on the road to the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth. SRS |

Subject: RE: BS: Paris Picasso Museum closed for 2 years? From: gnu Date: 23 Aug 09 - 01:38 PM Ya knoooow... I used to go to the Beaverbrook Art Galley in Fredericton, New Brunswick often and I would avert my eyes from a Dali in the main entrance atrium, view the other works and then spend long periods marvelling at it as a grand finalé to my visit. The staff were a bit upset at me once as I brought in a folding chair and sat for long periods in front of some works. I explained I had arthritic knees and I was not interferring with other patrons, that they had wheel chairs available... they adopted a policy of allowing "chairs", "until further notice." Haven't been there for years as I now live elsewhere. |

Doggone it; I just looked through quite a few pages of Google, hoping to find an old poster, "Madonna's Dog", with pointy bras strapped on each pair of nipples, but it didn't come up. |

Subject: RE: BS: Paris Picasso Museum closed for 2 years? From: Paul Burke Date: 27 Aug 09 - 09:48 AM Very good. But it all falls down a bit when some bloody pedant tells you his name is pronounced "fon Hoch", to rhyme with Scots "och". Personally, I've been unable to appreciate art since my vasariectomy. |

Subject: RE: BS: Paris Picasso Museum closed for 2 years? From: Stilly River Sage Date: 27 Aug 09 - 01:41 PM On the radio this morning I heard a report of a small Picasso painting that was looted in Kuwait in 1991. It was offered for sale in a southern town in Iraq this summer, and undercover agents went to view the painting. The painting and the suspect are on their way to Baghdad. SRS |
