"Hailing from Shetland, Jenna is undoubtedly one of the finest fiddle players ever to grace the traditional music scene.

'Laughing Girl' released on Footstompin Records is the second solo album from Shetland Fiddler Jenna Reid, and promises to deliver the bright talents of one of Scotland's most prominent young musicians.

Nominated as 'Best Instrumentalist' at the 2007 Scots Trad Awards, her new release showcases music and song from Shetland and Scotland featuring Kevin Mackenzie, Bethany Reid, Duncan Lyall, James Thomson, Iain Sandilands and Martin O'Neill.

Since releasing her debut solo album 'With Silver & All' in 2005 and being awarded 'Best Up and Coming Artist' at the 2005 Scots Trad Music Awards. Jenna was invited by Aly Bain and Jerry Douglas to perform on the third series of the Transatlantic Sessions.

A protégé of the greatest names in Shetland fiddling, Dr Tom Anderson MBE and Willie Hunter, Jenna has appeared all over the world with Shetland fiddling sensations, 'Filska', Scottish super group, 'Deaf Shepherd' and 'Dochas', winners of 'Best Up and Coming Band' at the 2004 Scots Trad Music Awards.

Winner of 'Best Up and Coming Artist' 2005 Scot Trad Music Awards Nominated for Best Instrumentalist of the Year 2007 Scot Trad Music Award. "

"The vocal delivery on these tracks are simply stunning, moving slightly away from traditionalfolk music values; very refreshing."
Maverick Magazine June 2008

"Anyone who has seen Reid play live will know what a consummate performer she is- intense, passionate, completely absorbed in her tunes"
Songlines June 2008

Shetland fiddler Jenna Reid plays the fiddle with an undeniable passion and vigour...the sexiest voice in Scottish music"
The Living Tradition May 2008

Saw her at the Early Music Centre in York a year or two ago and she was excellent. I went with two friends of mine who both play fiddle and who had been on a workshop/fiddle playing tuition thing earlier in the year. Come half time in the concert she came out to mingle and came bouncing across for a chat with them and she just seems such a lovely, sweet, exuberant, happy soul as well as being a cracking player.
