Subject: RE: Paul Morley shows off folk: Guardian From: GUEST,Edthefolkie Date: 04 Oct 09 - 03:58 PM His column (which is accessible from the above link) is also in the Observer Music Monthly today. http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2009/oct/02/folk-paul-morley Not quite sure what he was on when he wrote this, but I sort of like the idea of "Who Knows Where The Time Goes" as the National Anthem! Subject: RE: Paul Morley shows off folk: Guardian From: GUEST,Tunesmith Date: 04 Oct 09 - 09:22 AM Contradictory as in inconsistent! Paul Morley seemed to be agreeing with Johnny Marr when he criticized the "finger in the ear brigade", but at the same time championed Martin Carthy. But both Morley's and Marr's admission that they were both big fans of Marc Bolan's "mystical" approach to folk didn't impress me. |
