After the controversial appearance of the UK fascist leader Nick Griffin on Any Questions, it made me wonder who would be the perfect panel guests, living or dead.
I would invite Adolf Hitler, Oliver Cromwell, Tom Paine and Martha Gellhorn.
Alive, I would invite Clive James, Tom Paulin, Louis Farrakhan and David Irvin.

Kudos to you, Snail, on your multiple play on names-Mudcat member's Banjiman, poet/spoken word artist Benjamin Zephaniah, Baroness Sayeeda Warsi, and my name, Azizi (which rhymes with "Warsi" and is a KiSwahili form of an Arabic name-"Sayeeda" is an Arabic name so I can understand how my name got in the mix).

I'm afraid the only way you could get to be Queen would be by marrying Prince Charles and Duchess tends to be an honourary title for pub landladies. How about President For Life?

Somewhere, in a parallel universe, I am a benevolent Queen (or at least I am in my imagination).

Benjamin Zephaniah - because he is so erudite and humane.

Michael Gove - because, although I disagree with almost anything he says, he is very articulate and would make for interesting debates with the others.

Jesus - because, potentially, he has so much to answer for, and so we can see if he would side with the best or the worst of his followers, which I think is not entirely clear from what was written of him, presuming any part of that is true.

Mohandas Gandhi and Martin Luther King - for the same very obvious reasons.

Sojourner Truth - to show us all that being wise and articulate is not the same as being 'educated'.

Zawadi Mongane - as an example of incredible and humbling humanity in the most horrific circumstance.

With regard to this thread's topic, since I was introduced to Benjamin Zephaniah through a Mudcat thread, let me agree with those who have already mentioned his name.

I believe that Benjamin Zsphaniah would be an excellent addition to a Question Time panel-and not just about race, or immigration, but for other topics of interest.

And I'm surprised that no one's mentioned President Barack Obama. I know he would be another great choicefor a Question Time guest.

Actually, I'm sure Mr Zephaniah has been a guest on QT in the past. As has Billy Bragg.
To explain, the panel normally consists of representatives of the 3 major UK parties, Lab,Tory,Lib-Dem. and appearances by one from the smaller parties, plus someone from Left field, who has maybe an interesting slant on life. It generally works IMHO.
But this thread is more lighthearted...My 4 panellists? mmmm.
Well the whole of human history is a bit big, so I'll stick with the 20th century.

1. Hitler (justifying the Holocaust)
2. Churchill (justifying the bombing of Dresden)
3. Stalin (justifing the Gulags)
4. Pol Pot (justifying the Killing Fields)

The audience to be made up of the souls of the victims.

Just my two pennorth, but I've obviously never met any of these characters, and it would be interesting to hear thir views.

First get rid of that tosser Dimbleby, who thinks the show is about him.
What is it with some people who are picked to moderate something, and then want to be in control of all the contributors.
He's the chairman FFS, he asks more questions than anybody. He sometimes seems to regard the guests as superfluous. He is there to keep order, and introduce the guests, not to air his own opinions.
