Subject: RE: Sabhain Mhath Dhuibh From: Joe Offer Date: 30 Oct 09 - 10:16 PM This time of year, I always try to reassess whether my living with a witch is a good thing, or not. So far, so good. Happy celebration, however you celebrate or spell it! [My wife spells it Samhain] -Joe- |
Subject: RE: Sabhain Mhath Dhuibh From: Sandy Mc Lean Date: 30 Oct 09 - 11:08 PM Joe, your wife spells it correctly! As you know from my many previous posts I can't spell worth a damn in either Gaelic or English. I also intended to send it below the line. Sandy |
Subject: RE: Sabhain Mhath Dhuibh From: Big Mick Date: 30 Oct 09 - 11:34 PM Or, put another way, Happy New Year to all my fellow Celts! All the best, Mick |
Subject: RE: Sabhain Mhath Dhuibh From: katlaughing Date: 31 Oct 09 - 12:07 AM Same here! I've just learned why Chesire man, Bryn Pugh calls it "Hollandside." Quite interesting. This year, my grandson is very envious of his grandpa having his birthday on Halloween. His is two weeks later, but he'd really like to move it. |

Subject: RE: Sabhain Mhath Dhuibh From: Polly Squeezebox Date: 31 Oct 09 - 09:31 AM Love, light and laughter to all - for the season and for the New Year. Also, if in England - take care for the warnings are that Herne will ride with his wild hunt tonight. If travelling watch out for debris and falling trees. BB Polly |
Subject: RE: Sabhain Mhath Dhuibh From: Tinker Date: 31 Oct 09 - 11:26 AM Take care for the veil is thin And the spirit seeks refuge within For moon lights the way as the hunt seeks it's prey And the unwary are lost in the din May the dark of the night lead to the bright light of the dawn.... |
Subject: RE: Sabhain Mhath Dhuibh From: Crow Sister (off with the fairies) Date: 31 Oct 09 - 11:35 AM Another thread here too. Some lovely stuff on Souling just be careful of the scary music link.. Happy Day of the Dead :) |
Subject: RE: Sabhain Mhath Dhuibh From: Ebbie Date: 31 Oct 09 - 11:51 AM My maternal grandmother's birthday was on October 31. Pity she was such a fundamentalist Christian- I never knew if she considered the date significant. |
Subject: RE: Sabhain Mhath Dhuibh From: Will Fly Date: 31 Oct 09 - 12:02 PM I'm playing with the ceilidh band at a wedding tonight. It's at an old Sussex farm called "Pangdean" - a farm now used as a wedding venue and meetings centre. The weddings are held in a huge old tithe barn, and it'll be interesting to see if the spirit of this evening permeates the occasion... |
