Tony Rice did a few Lightfoot tunes. "Cold on the Shoulder" and "I'm not Sayin'" to name two.

Learn all the Monroe and Flatt/Scruggs rep. There really isn't much more you need. At some point, you begin to make your own versions of tunes. It just happens. Everybody else has. If this is viewed as purist crap, so be it. Everyone in Bluegrass is spawned by Bill...

Bluegrass is a style, not a genre. You can do any song bluegrass style; it's how it is played, not what it is about.

so is rock.

So is anything done in a "folky" style

Or classical style.

anything can be done in a "hip hop" style. Start with a bunch of stupid hand and arm motions.

bluegrass is more than a style or a genre. It is for some, a way of life.

Yup, I know lots of 'em
