A few days ago we had lower than -30WC (windchill, Amos, Art and the rest of you smug b...oys and girls).

So, I dug out the woolies, the flappers, the Long Johns.

Now, I was always a Stanfieled's man, but I bought a couple of pair of Kodiaks last year and they are great.

What say you?

Since I have such a hard time getting up from the john, I have come to much prefer these high-slung ones.

But they do leave me feeling flushed.

They are only Stanfield's if they got the button in the middle or two buttons on the side of the flap. Those of you who know the true STANFIELD can relate.

Life got much better when I discovered -- gasp -- silk longjohns! I still look like a dork (a warm dork, but there you are), but them silkies really boost a girl's confidence when she's waiting for the bus at minus far too much.

I wear shorts all year round, and vary what is under them according to the season. In the present cold snap (a whole week below freezing in Boston), that means slinky quilted longjohns.

Yesterday, however, at a certain bar, I saw a man do a dance in a red union suit. Took me right back.
