I am definitely a Hot Rize fan. They had a tribute to Charles Sawtelle at the Winterhawk bluegrass festival two weeks ago, and all the gang was there (except Charles). Peter Rowan has Charles' guitar now, given by him, and played it with the band in Charles' pickin style. It was very moving, but also done with humor and very upbeat.

We have a couple of Hot Rize albums somewhere, but I'm too lazy at the moment (it's too late) to go look for it, transcribe, etc. Maybe tomorrow! Seems familiar, but I think it has a different title.

You can hear a sound sample of it at cdnow.com:

It's on the "Take it Home" album, called Where the Wild River Rolls.

Hey, Barbara Shaw! My name is Michael. My partner Cathryn and I perform as the duo 'Just Plain Folk'. I always seem to perk-up when I hear this song-pretty bluesy, nice changes, etc. Thanks for the Hot Rize CD info, and if you're so inclined please pass along the lyrics. We live in a small farming community on Puget Sound in western Wa. Thanx again. Michael

Hi Michael. False alarm: we don't have the "Take It Home" album so I can't get you the lyrics. I did a few searches on the net but can't find them anywhere. Sorry to get your hopes up. If I run across someone who knows them, I'll let you know. Good luck.

Thanks Barbara, I appreciate your time spent to find those lyrics. I'll be looking for the cd when I get to the big city. In the meantime I'll just keep going over what I know and enjoy that. Thanx, Michael.

Hey Michael! In case you're still looking for these lyrics, a friend just loaned us the tape.

WHERE THE WILD RIVER ROLLS
Amos

Where can I find some peace for my mind
I fear that my heart has grown cold
You left me alone, this wide world to roam
So I'm bound where the wild river rolls.

(Chorus)
I'm bound where the wild river rolls
I'm bound where the tall pine trees grow
The cost of your love has taken its toll
So I'm bound where the wild river rolls.

Five lonely years I have waited in vain
Hoping for you to come home
I told you that I couldn't live without your love
So I'm bound where the wild river rolls.
