Border Crossing will be at the GI for part of the weekend, but anyone know if its's too late to get a gig somewhere, and who to ring?

Dean

I have made a start at putting the band bios on myspace. This info is gathered from the musician's own web-sites so may or may not be the type of information that you are looking for, but should give an idea of what they are about.

I have emailed the bands that still need info and will update myspace with the info as i get it. There are also links to their web-sites which often provide more info/photos/videos/music clips.

Please note that the myspace/facebook/mudcat info is unofficial and is not anything to do with Medway Council.

Hope this helps
Jen

fantastic. as Medway council takes its own sweet time getting a brochure up, I will watch your spaces Jen.

I need to book the B&B near the Good Intent too.

Actually, Kevin the Shirt Murderer does lead some traditional English songs, although the odd verse or two from Quadrophenia slips in.

And Ruff -n- Reddy have been heard to sing different notes from each other, sometimes in the same scale.

I think you'll find Jumbo Gumbo feature walls of nasal corrupt French sung traditionally a fraction sharp - unless that's the exceptionally wide tuning on a cajun accordion confusing me (as Jon Loomes used to say "Give me an A. No, only one")

ok, will see what i can find (in between the day job), but...start with this one:

JUMBO GUMBO: walls of harmony inspired by the Young Tradition woven into traditional song

:)

Yes. They used to go into the programme 10 years ago but recently they haven't. It helps to decide if I want to go to see a guest. If they play bluegrass or snigger snogwriter I probably won't bother. If it says walls of harmony inspired by the Young Tradition woven into traditional song I'll probably be in the front row. And since guests are often on at the same time as each other it helps prioritise.

A thumbnail sketch of the booked artists would be handy. It was once a feature of the programme, but vanished many ears ago. In the absence of a good reason to be elsewhere (and I am no longer playing for BG) I will very probably be in the GI all weekend (hic).

Thought I'd start this thread since I'm doing the (unofficial) Sweeps MySpace and Facebook sites.

The fun is over the May Day Holiday (first weekend in May).

Musicians booked so far include:
BELLOWHEAD, CARA DILLON, WHEELER STREET, THE CEREMONY OF MAY, BILLY CHILDISH, SUR LES DOCKS, THE CHIMNEY BOYS, HOT RATS, THE FABULOUS FEZHEADS, MOVEABLE FEAST, LUPEN CROOK & THE MURDERBIRDS, THE BOUNTY HOUNDS, MORENA, JANETTE GERI, GREEN DIESEL, CALICO STREET RIOTS, MIKE NICHOLSON, PHOENIX, ROCAS, LUKE JACKSON, JUMBO GUMBO, HOBO JONES & THE JUNKYARD DOGS, LUKE DORMAN & THE DARK HORSES, SKINNERS RATS, JUNK & DISORDERLY, JOHN BARDEN, PIGS EAR, WHISTLE STOP TOUR

There are also great singarounds at pubs including the Good Intent.

Morris sides booked will be publicised soon.

I'll post more info here as I get it, but feel free to update this thread if you have any information.

So - who will be there???

Jen
