Subject: RE: Sweeps Festival 2010 - Rochester, Kent From: broadstairs-jen Date: 28 Jan 10 - 04:22 PM I have made a start at putting the band bios on myspace. This info is gathered from the musician's own web-sites so may or may not be the type of information that you are looking for, but should give an idea of what they are about. I have emailed the bands that still need info and will update myspace with the info as i get it. There are also links to their web-sites which often provide more info/photos/videos/music clips. Please note that the myspace/facebook/mudcat info is unofficial and is not anything to do with Medway Council. Hope this helps Jen |
Subject: RE: Sweeps Festival 2010 - Rochester, Kent From: Pierre Le Chapeau Date: 28 Jan 10 - 10:51 AM I will be booking usual B&B, at Andy,s Cafe. Looking forward to the event it was great last year. |
Subject: RE: Sweeps Festival 2010 - Rochester, Kent From: VirginiaTam Date: 28 Jan 10 - 02:20 AM fantastic. as Medway council takes its own sweet time getting a brochure up, I will watch your spaces Jen. I need to book the B&B near the Good Intent too. |

Subject: RE: Sweeps Festival 2010 - Rochester, Kent From: Richard Bridge Date: 26 Jan 10 - 06:33 PM Actually, Kevin the Shirt Murderer does lead some traditional English songs, although the odd verse or two from Quadrophenia slips in. And Ruff -n- Reddy have been heard to sing different notes from each other, sometimes in the same scale. I think you'll find Jumbo Gumbo feature walls of nasal corrupt French sung traditionally a fraction sharp - unless that's the exceptionally wide tuning on a cajun accordion confusing me (as Jon Loomes used to say "Give me an A. No, only one") |
Subject: RE: Sweeps Festival 2010 - Rochester, Kent From: broadstairs-jen Date: 26 Jan 10 - 05:00 PM or harmonious |
Subject: RE: Sweeps Festival 2010 - Rochester, Kent From: growler Date: 26 Jan 10 - 04:27 PM There is nothing trditional in Kevin, from ' Jumbo Gumbo's shirts |
Subject: RE: Sweeps Festival 2010 - Rochester, Kent From: broadstairs-jen Date: 26 Jan 10 - 01:35 PM ok, will see what i can find (in between the day job), but...start with this one: JUMBO GUMBO: walls of harmony inspired by the Young Tradition woven into traditional song :) Jen |
Subject: RE: Sweeps Festival 2010 - Rochester, Kent From: Richard Bridge Date: 26 Jan 10 - 11:30 AM Yes. They used to go into the programme 10 years ago but recently they haven't. It helps to decide if I want to go to see a guest. If they play bluegrass or snigger snogwriter I probably won't bother. If it says walls of harmony inspired by the Young Tradition woven into traditional song I'll probably be in the front row. And since guests are often on at the same time as each other it helps prioritise. |
Subject: RE: Sweeps Festival 2010 - Rochester, Kent From: broadstairs-jen Date: 26 Jan 10 - 10:29 AM richard, are you looking for short bios on the booked artists? jen |
Subject: RE: Sweeps Festival 2010 - Rochester, Kent From: Richard Bridge Date: 25 Jan 10 - 07:09 PM A thumbnail sketch of the booked artists would be handy. It was once a feature of the programme, but vanished many ears ago. In the absence of a good reason to be elsewhere (and I am no longer playing for BG) I will very probably be in the GI all weekend (hic). |
