Lorcan:

What a great idea. I am sorry your father gave that money away--it was legally his. Be worth something today, I reckon... Anyway, good luck with the museum. I will definitely see it next time I hit New York.

Gold certificates are presently legal tender for the face value- but probably worth about 60% over face as collectors items. They are NOT redeemable in gold after 1935.

Call him anything you want, 'cos if he's an English Traddie, chances are he'll shoot you anyway...so you may as well go down with a smile on your face! ;0)

Damn Sparky.....you're a trip!

I would love to have that joint! Back about 16 or 17 years ago, a friend and I were within a gnat's ass of opening a speakeasy. Found this fantastic building, absolutely perfect. We were planning a chophouse restaurant with a 30's gangster theme to include a bit of a a "passion play" every nite........Long story but it fell apart for a couple of reasons but it would have been fun to see if we could have made a go of it.
