Over a year ago, I commented on a Mudcat thread that the people who post comments on the lolcat site - they are actually are very literate people who use their understanding of language and the web to play and have fun and express opinions about culture and politics. I like the analysis you linked to. I don't participate in the lolcat comments, but I find that those who do must be very well read and creative to come up with what they write. I think they are mostly computer programmers and English majors.

It certainly is a phenomenon.... After I posted the 1st couple, it dawned on me that if there were 'several' parodies, there must be dozens.....so I did a search "lolcat" then in images....dozens is understating it.
