Subject: BS: Show the world what's in your garage! From: katlaughing Date: 22 Mar 10 - 06:21 PM Thanks to Mudcatter, mouldy, for the email link to a German company who helps you show the world what's in your garage or, at least what you wish were in there and how to make it so. **BG** That link leads to some beauties I thought Kendall might be interested in. I don't have a garage, but if I did, I'd have somewhere to park my Lear Jet...you can see how at this website, too! Have fun! katlaughingforsure! |

Subject: RE: BS: Show the world what's in your garage! From: Sorcha Date: 22 Mar 10 - 06:54 PM NOBODY wants to KNOW what is in MY garage! Hell, even I don't know the half of what's out there! |

Subject: RE: BS: Show the world what's in your garage! From: Darowyn Date: 22 Mar 10 - 07:39 PM Whoever thinks that CARS go in garages? That's ridiculous! The garage is where you keep your motorbikes, or rehearse your band, or build boats, or in some sad cases, convert into an extra room. Cheers Dave |

Subject: RE: BS: Show the world what's in your garage! From: Ebbie Date: 22 Mar 10 - 09:19 PM Juneau's songwriter, Buddy Tabor, wrote a song he called 'Mass Consumption Blues' where he goes down the list of everything in his garage. One line that always strikes me: "and the exercise equipment that gave you the cramps..." |

Subject: RE: BS: Show the world what's in your garage! From: katlaughing Date: 22 Mar 10 - 10:05 PM We don't have one, either, BillD. Did any of you look at the creative scenes, etc. they have available? I am sure they have that looks like a real, messy garage, plus they also will custom make them.:-) kat |

Subject: RE: BS: Show the world what's in your garage! From: Richard Bridge Date: 23 Mar 10 - 09:28 AM Oh dear, the list would go on for pages and pages - it's a double garage with loft, most things tidily racked and stacked, person space in teh loft is limited to keeping one foot on the top rung of the ladder, and there are two parallel narrow walkways to the back of the garage at ground level. Most space is taken by one and a half PA rigs and one and a half drumkits, but there are also two workbenches, several filing cabinets, several boxes of Volvo and Ford spares and most of a Volvo interior, a mountain bike, lots of "useful" wood, gardening tools, mechanical tools, woodworking tools, ladders, spare computer desks (dismantled), and some space heaters. Then there is the garden shed, which is nearly as capacious. Then the loft of the house, and that is a big loft (notice the lack of reference to old HiFis, TVs and monitors and computers, kids toys, and old clothes yet?). |

Subject: RE: BS: Show the world what's in your garage! From: gnu Date: 23 Mar 10 - 10:42 AM In my garage, I have a path. I can get to the snowblower and the generator and anything within arm's reach of the path. If I want anything else, I gotta move sommat else. PS It never wa that way until I hurt my back last summer putting stuff in the garage for a garage sale. Most of it is still there. |

Subject: RE: BS: Show the world what's in your garage! From: gnomad Date: 23 Mar 10 - 12:04 PM I could have used something like that in my last home but two (only a parking space now & last time, and only a carport at the one before that) but I do remember that moving from having a garage to none was a tough time. Amazing how much stuff I had, and how little its absence has mattered. Some of the interior doors on that site are quite jolly. You might even fool a few people by using one of them on a blank wall. Since they let you send in your own picture you could hide a garage full of stuff behind a picture of the same garage, empty. Wonder how many people would drive into their own garage door? |

Subject: RE: BS: Show the world what's in your garage! From: frogprince Date: 23 Mar 10 - 01:33 PM I've actually had a little fantasy, which I doubt that I'll ever carry out, of painting our garage door with front views of a Duesenberg SJ and a 1957 Thunderbird. I'm afraid it would be hard to do anything on our roll-up door that wouldn't get ratty before long. |

Subject: RE: BS: Show the world what's in your garage! From: Joe Offer Date: 23 Mar 10 - 01:53 PM What's in my garage?
You were expecting me to have a car in there? You gotta be kidding! The cars are in the horse stable, a good walk away from the house. |

Subject: RE: BS: Show the world what's in your garage! From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 23 Mar 10 - 04:07 PM Books and papers. No room for my car, and in any case it's probably safer parked by the kerb, since the garages are round the corner, and they get broken into from time to time. |

Subject: RE: BS: Show the world what's in your garage! From: katlaughing Date: 23 Mar 10 - 04:56 PM Man, you are all too literal! Show us your FANTASY garage...browse the site...design your own. If they like it, they will pay you a percentage if folks all over the world want your design on their garage doors! Me, I shall have to get a three-car garage for the jetliner. Or, I'll design my own Shangri La. Just think, LeeJ could design a storefront for Blake Madison, Private Dick! Live it up, fellahs! |

Subject: RE: BS: Show the world what's in your garage! Fantasy! From: EBarnacle Date: 23 Mar 10 - 11:15 PM My 1972 Citroen DS, driven rarely now. It used to go from NYC to Boston in 3 hours, flying low, with 4 aboard at 25 mpg. Never bothered by the bears. Why can't they make REAL touring cars like that any more? |

Subject: RE: BS: Show the world what's in your garage! Fantasy! From: Stilly River Sage Date: 24 Mar 10 - 12:15 AM I have a stall for the dogs inside the side door, a workbench I built myself under the window at the end opposite the big door, and around the perimeter I have stuff that has never made it to garage sales (yet), 2 mowers, weed eater, power tools, a couple of drills and saws, shelves for gardening materials, the Radio Flyer wagon, etc. And in the middle I have a my pickup truck. There is a path down each side so the doors can be opened. I've been working on this decluttering for a while, I at least need to show that I can navigate through my garage. And it is a garage that I had built when I moved into this house (and converted the former garage into several rooms and a hall.) I love my garage, and it was a bit of a fantasy to simply have it built! It's the first structure I've ever had built just for me. It has some characteristics similar to Richard Bridge's--I also put in a low loft that is most easily approached from the top of the ladder. It's the place to store boxes and such. :) SRS |

Subject: RE: BS: Show the world what's in your garage! Fantasy! From: VirginiaTam Date: 24 Mar 10 - 03:40 AM How weird to see the classic cars just now. My daughter's (sort of) boyfriend has a delorean in his garage. She got to drive it in a parking lot in August GA, last weekend. But he would not let her fiddle with any of the interesting buttons or get it up to 88mph. His hobby is restoring classic cars. I wish I had a garage to store junk in. Sigh. |
