Subject: BS: March Madness 2010 From: Janie Date: 25 Mar 10 - 11:36 PM (Hope I haven't overlooked a thread already started.) Well, the young Tarheels were a flop this season. Talented bunch of kids that just couldn't pull it together as a unit this year,) and failed to make the NCAA's for the 1st time (I think) since I moved to North Carolina. However, I am plumb proud to be a'hollerin' HOW 'BOUT THEM 'EERS!!! It is more thrilling for me to see the West Virginia Mountaineers make it to the Sweet 16, and now the Elite 8 twice in 5 years, than when Carolina makes it to yet another Final Four. I might die and go to "Almost Heaven" if they actually make an appearance in the Final Four. (Shush - don't tell my son or Dani - but otherwise I continue to cheer for Duke - the last standing Tobacco Road team.) |

Subject: RE: BS: March Madness 2010 From: catspaw49 Date: 26 Mar 10 - 10:54 PM Okay Janie......Rub it in and lord it over me for all those WVa jokes.......Ohio State after pulverizing Georgia Tech lost to Tennessee and with Xavier's loss as well, I am now a Mountaineer fan! Actually I've been a Bob Huggins fan for a long time since he mace Cincy a factor in college basketball. After years of success he's back home in Morgantown and from the looks of things, is about to go on a long run of success putting West Virginia right in there yearly with the usual powerhouse schools. Subject: RE: BS: March Madness 2010 From: catspaw49 Date: 27 Mar 10 - 09:12 PM HEY JANIE!!! I tried to call you a few minutes ago. If something doesn't change drastically in the last few minutes, West Virginia is going to give Kentucky a SERIOUS ass kickin'!!! WVa has a history though of giving up huge leads in the last gew minutes so I have my fingers crossed. I had about stopped watching basketball altogether but this year's games have sparked a bit of interest again. Spaw |

Subject: RE: BS: March Madness 2010 From: catspaw49 Date: 03 Apr 10 - 06:57 PM And it is now April 3 and Michigan State is currently at almost the half with Butler in a very close game , but I am waiting for WVU to beat Duke with about an 8:30 tip-off. This is the first time in years I have even bothered with "March Madness" but the storylines this year have all been pretty entertaining. So I am expecting Janie and Russ and Bobertz to possibly show up but if not, that's okay too I'm hoping for a Butler/WVU Final.......... Spaw |

Subject: RE: BS: March Madness 2010 From: Janie Date: 03 Apr 10 - 10:27 PM Well, WVU is still very much in the game, but I'm crossing everything a bit harder now. |

|
Subject: RE: BS: March Madness 2010 From: Janie Date: 03 Apr 10 - 11:00 PM Well, in the likely event Duke beats West Virginia, I'll be cheering for them in the final. (don't tell any of my fellow Carolina alumni.) |

Subject: RE: BS: March Madness 2010 From: Arkie Date: 03 Apr 10 - 11:48 PM Duke may well have played its best game of the season tonight and they did need it. I don't think the final score reflected just how good West Virginia is this year. There were certainly two class coaches on the bench. If they were not playing Duke I would be favoring Butler in the Monday game. Janie, when the Tar Heels are not playing Duke, I am in their corner. This was not their year but they will be back. |

Subject: RE: BS: March Madness 2010 From: catspaw49 Date: 03 Apr 10 - 11:59 PM I think that in a year of good story lines, two of the best made the Final Four. Butler's hometown young coach and Bobby Huggins coming home and taking WVU to the playoffs. You could readily see the feelings of the WVU players toward Huggins and his for them........this program will be a new power in the NCAA. Duke played an outstanding game tonight but I am impressed that Butler is damn good at finding a way to win. This could be the year of the underdog. Spaw |
