Subject: RE: Art Thieme on Youtube From: pgoelz Date: 09 Apr 10 - 10:17 AM Ah, found the login you mentioned. Cleverly disguised, I might add ;) You are very welcome re: my recordings. Interesting to think back upon those times. Truth be told, I did it because I was a techie geek who loved folk music and was fascinated by TV and video, not because I had any thoughts of preserving something. But looking back at it, I am so glad I did.... and even moreso because no one else was. I don't think I ever saw another video camera in the place. Consumer video wasn't exactly cutting edge by 1981, but it was not something anyone could do by running out to the corner store either. Consequently, there doesn't seem to be much folk video coverage of the late 70s into the mid 80s aside from actual TV shows. What I would have given back then for my current camcorder..... the size of a Coke can with vastly better resolution and low light capability. My goal is to capture all (approx.) 80 hours that I have from the various folk venues and then figure out how to make as much of it available as I can. Paul |
Subject: RE: Art Thieme on Youtube From: Phil Cooper Date: 10 Apr 10 - 09:58 AM Speaking of classic Chicago area folk performers, Paul, Glenn Shubert finally sent me a cassette of seven of his songs. You didn't get any videos of him from Adler house, did you? |
Subject: RE: Art Thieme on Youtube From: pgoelz Date: 11 Apr 10 - 12:31 PM Pretty sure I did get some of Glenn. I have a couple birthday concerts and he must be in there somewhere. I don't think I recorded any of the jams though. Prolly should have, ya know...... Paul |
Subject: RE: Art Thieme on Youtube From: pgoelz Date: 11 Apr 10 - 02:20 PM I just looked and I have either an open stage set or a concert of Glenn. Stay tuned. It may be a while but I'll get to it. Paul |
