The Nightwatchman's Story is almost certainly THE STREET WATCHMAN'S STORY by Charle J. Winter (1910) performed and recorded by Bransby Williams. Stanley Holloway recorded it late 1950's and the words are on "Make 'em Laugh".

I came across your site after trying to search for Monologues.....
My Great Grandfather in 1914 read them at a Smoking concert but we dont know if its something he made up or whether they are well known monologues but Google didnt find anything.

The Smith Browns and/or The Night Watchmans Story Monologue's.
